Ever since I started Slimming world I have been running to the toilet every five minutes, but the last week or so I have literally been going to the toilet EVERY hour. Last night I woke up around 6 times to wee during my 8 hour sleep time and I feel really tired. I don't drink that much water, around 1.5 litres per day so it isn't excessive...

If it continues I would go along to the Dr, 1.5 litres isn't enough to warrant that much wee :-S

I drink similar amount and have to stop drinking around 8pm now where I can.

you might be eating foods which are 'diuretics' which make you loose water too?

A lady in our group had this problem early on, though I think she found it settled down after a few weeks.
A lot of the weight you lose during the early part of a diet is water weight.
From my non-scientific background I understand it to be because of the following:
- Even just drinking 1.5l, you are likely to have upped your water content greatly as fruit and veg contain a LOT of water. So not only does that have to come out, but your body is no longer starved for water and feels more relaxed about releasing the water it had been holding onto before as bloating.
- Water retention is worse the more fat cells we have (fat cells contain water too I believe). So as you lose weight, your body is retaining less water. That has to go somewhere!
- As someone above mentioned, many vegetables are diuretics (I know leeks are one).

It must be a real pain, but remember you are losing water weight as you pee it out! If it continues though do see your doctor as excessive thirst/urination can be a sign of diabetes or other blood sugar issues.

Thanks everyone! Yep I will give it another couple of weeks but if not I'll go to the doctor xxx

Please don't take this the wrong way but you really should go to your Doctor very soon because this is a very common symptom for diabetes. Its probably not but no harm to get your fasting blood glucose levels checked. Urination during the night and going so often in the day too is the body's way of flushing out the glucose that is not going into the body's cells and that could leave you dehydrated and hence you will drink more and it is a vicious circle.

Hopefully, this is not the reason but no harm to get your blood glucose checked asap with Doctor. I am a student nurse but also type 2 diabetic.

I personally don't think you need to worry. Although you can eat to satisfy your appetite on slimming world it can still be a shock to the system. I've also been going an awful lot this week, but I've been eating lots of super free foods that have a high water content.

Although you may not be drinking an awful lot I'm certain you're getting more water than your body's used to - it'll calm down soon :)))

I don't think you need to worry. I have been doing the same! So mentioned it at my meeting and others have the same problem...should settle down, however I'm normally up once in the night now.....it's all the water in all the fruit and veg I'm eating....and possibly he green tea too...but weight is coming off so hey ho can't complain really!

I'm worried now :( I don't want to have diabetes :/ losing weight helps with that as well right?

I thought I had diabetes a year or so ago but I had tests done and was fine.

i really do think it's the change of diet, also I have a habit of needing a wee twice before I fall asleep when at my parents, yet when I'm at mine I don't do it!

try stopping your drinking 1-2 hours before bed and try to drink when you get up in the morning to rehydrate your body.
