I cheated:(

I've stuck to the plan 100% apart from today. I had 2 alpen light bars for breakfast (HeB) and then went to my best friend's baby scan, We found out she was having a girl (yay) and so all went out for a meal. She wanted to go to her favourite place so I could hardly say no. The table (5 of us) shared a plate of nachos, wedges and chicken strips... I then had a mexican burger with cheesy chips!... and choc flapjack at home. I won't have tea.

Feeling very annoyed with myself as I've been doing the 30 day shred this week and have worked so hard but then ruined it all in the space of 2 hours. My weigh in is on Tuesday so I'm hoping if I perhaps have no syns at all and work really hard then I may still achieve a loss??

Has anyone got any advice or experience? Is there anything I can do to lessen the impact?

Xx

Would doing 2 green days perhaps help?

Just stick to the plan and have no syns like you said. You could also try success express. Don't worry about it, you still have plenty of time to rectify it xxx

Trust me it happens to all of us. Its how you've dealt with it that is important. Just make sure you stay on plan as it is so easy to just give up and then its harder to get back on track x

Real life events happen, we can't avoid them. As the others have said, its how you now deal with them, enjoy them, then get right back on track. I honestly feel that the very worst thing you can do, is beat yourself up into a massive guilt trip. Not every event will involve food but are you never ever going to celebrate events with friends and family? Of course not, so draw a line and get back on plan xx

I wouldn't recommend not having any syns at all - that's when problems start, from.feeling restricted! You need to try and have Atleast 5 a day. Eat plenty of superfree and superspeed food and drink plenty of water. Try not to beat yourself up - you're only human x

The rule I give myself is that if I have a bad day, I will cut down on my syns - but I'll only go below ten syns a day (yes ten) if it's no skin off my nose. Some days I might have syns just because I can, but if I've had a bad day foodwise, I'll only have them if I really want them. And then I won't beat myself up. I had to make myself promise this!

Dont feel bad hun, I have just had a big slice of chocolate cake that my daughter made yesterday, do I feel bad? Nope cos I know that im gonna jump straight back on the wagon and I always allow myself a little treat at the weekend!

It was a celebration so dont beat yourself up, dont cut out the syns, they really are there for a reason, if it makes you feel better just cut down to 5 for the next couple of days and then go back to normal and eat lots of speed and superspeed foods and all will be well!

Is there anything I can do to lessen the impact?

Yes... draw a line, eat something tonight made out of free/superfree stuff and stop 'punishing' yourself for celebrating your friends good news. SW isn't a diet... it's about making long term changes however life still happens. Don't beat yourself up over one non-SW friendly meal out of the week. Continue on plan from now, keep up the 30 Day Shred (I take my hat off to you... I tried the first day and thought sod it at around 5 mins in!) and see what happens on Tuesday.

I had a huge plate of fish and chips on Friday night, got straight back on diet and exercise Saturday and I've still lost half a lb (not official as don't weigh in till Weds so could be more!) but it's proof that one meal WILL NOT ruin all of your hard work! Don't tell yourself to not have any Syns unless you 100% know you can do it, but do try and limit them, otherwise you'll not only want them more, you'll feel so much worse if you have them when telling yourself you absolutely can't have any. Look at it in the way of you had a brill night out for a very lovely and good reason and you enjoyed yourself, you're changing your lifestyle and you're not going to go your whole life without slipping up or having a few nights out that include gloriously bad food.

Have super free tonight if you're hungry, drink lots of water to flush it out of you system, have a decent breakfast tomorrow and include all your super-free with meals, you'll be fine, remember a maintain is still better than a gain even if you don't get a loss. Considering what you've actually eaten I'm guessing it's below your maintaining calorie limit anyway (there's an actual calculator where you can work this out), so even if it's not 100% a SW day, you're probably still fine.

Good luck at WI, don' stress, that alone wont do your body any good.

Also agree with this, hats off to you, I haven't even looked at it because it sounds hard!

Another thought... cheating is where you have the syns but don't acknowledge them. I've done this a few times on a Friday after WI... I have a good result on the scales and off I go to Costa for a green tea and a wrap/panini because 'I deserve a treat'. I then forget all about these sneaky syns and wonder why, at next WI, I haven't lost as much as I thought I would.

You haven't cheated. You've acknowledged the extra syns and you're moving on from them!

Thank you for all of your replies! I know I shouldn't feel too guilty, I made a pact with myself before eating I'd go easy on me. Lol.

I have had a few syns and have been trying success express. Fingers crossed! Xx

This was me last week!! Loads of support on here, I just got back to it the day after and lost 1lb this week and it star week!! Just or get about today and start again tomorrow cx

Thank you all for making me all feel better :) Well it certainly didn't do me any harm! I've been walking more and doing the 30 day shred (not even every day) and have lost 3lbs this week! Very happy. xx

See... one bad meal doesn't ruin a week! Well done on the fabulous loss!

Thank you! xx

Thanks! I think I'm aware of that now. :) I do think that the cheating made me work harder though. (Not that I mean to do it often :p )
