How many syns to have

Hi,

I have 10 lbs to lose. Got the books off a friend as can't make classes. How many syns do I have a day? How many flexible syns can I get away with?

Not sure on flexi syns but they advise u to hav between 5-15 a day

Flexible syns are supposed to be for special occasions and its part of the process that you have to accept you may not lose that week. How many you could get away with is anybody's guess sorry hun xx
 
When I joined I was advised to aim for 10, but not to worry as long as I was in range. I started out at around 15 and lost. I now aim for 10 most days to allow for days when I go over.
 
I usually use all my 15 syns each day and I still see losses each week. They are there to be used for treats but also as part of normal cooking. Even when you get to target you don't increase your syns... you increase the HeX's as they are healthier for you.
 
My consultant starts everyone on 10 syns - although the book says 5-15, I've never heard her recommending that to anyone. 10 seems to be gospel at our group :)
 
My consultant says have all 15 and don't worry about it.
Given that each syn is worth 20 calories, there's only 200 calories difference between having 5 or 15 syns per day. Over a week - 1400. Given that to lose a pound of fat in a week they say you need to cut calories by 3500, it doesn't make that much difference. I guess that's why she says eat them and enjoy them.
 
Actually, scrap what I just said. I'm not losing any weight whatsoever so it's probably best to ignore me!
 
I always use my 15 a day as advised by my consultant. I have lost almost 4 stone, it was 4 but Xmas happened!
 
Usually I have 10-15. My consultant says never below 10 but I don't think thats really accurate either lol. Have as many as you want between 5 and 15 but don;t fall into the trap of believing that you will lose more or faster if you have fewer syns x
 
My consultant tells us each week that we've got 105 new syns (so 15 x 7 days), and she suggests we count down from there rather than count up!
I usually aim for 10 a day, but some days may only have 3 or 4 - I don't feel that I need to eat any more just to get to 10

My understanding is have what syns you need, just not more than 15 or less than 5. Sometimes I have all 15, other times I'm lower. I don't think you need the same set number each day. Besides, mixing it up is supposed to be good for your body, stop it getting complacent and slowing metabolism.
Have whatever you need to not feel deprived, as it's feeling deprived that makes us slip off of healthy eating plans
