Advice for a night out.

Hi I started SW(again)on the 16th of January and lost 7.5lbs so far yay! I've been really good and following the plan 100% and swimming 3 times a week. I weigh in Thursday evenings.

I'm going out Friday night to the pub with friends. I very rarely go out drinking so I do want to enjoy my night out and not feel guilty(easier said than done) I'm going to follow the plan all day Friday and eat before I go out.

i tend to drink peach schnapps and lemonade, but struggle to get diet lemonade in the pub. Can anyone suggest any lower syn drinks. I don't like wine.

should I go it enjoy myself, draw a line under it, start afresh Saturday morning
or
enjoy myself and cut back on my syns the rest of the week
or
a third option I've not thought of.

any other advise on how to have a night out the SW way?

Thanks

Jennifer

I'm.not sure from a specific SW point of view but I'd try hard not to self sabotage here. You're trying to make a permanent change so giving yourself "days off " should be a thing of the past, with your new mindset

Id eat normally on Friday and normally the next day etc. I'd make some calorie / sin savings and intersperse each alcoholic drink with a soft one. I'd also limit the amount I had, telling myself I was going to.have 3 or 4 and no more

That'd work for me I think

Most shorts are relatively low synned (coupled with diet mixers)

my favourite is dark rum (2.5 syns 25ml, 4 syns 35ml) & diet coke
You could have vodka/gin and slimline tonic or diet coke for the same syn values
Bacardi and diet coke is also the same

I stick to single measures with a diet mixer and try to have soft drinks in between alcoholic ones. Alcohol was one of the hardest things for me to limit myself on, I could quite easily sink a bottle of wine in an hour however now that I've changed my habits, I don't really miss it all that much and still enjoy a glass (within syns) every now and again.

The other thing I do if I know it's going to be hard if not impossible to be good, is save up as many syns as I can (without feeling deprived) over the course of the week to help with damage limitation.

Thanks for the advice.

i wish pubs sold more diet mixers as I don't like diet coke.

good idea to have soft drinks in between.

This is going to sound really trampy but...... I would just bring my own tins of diet lemonade with me in my bag and sneak them.I have to disagree with one point above about things like this being relegated to 'the past' - as you say, nights out are a rare treat, and it does no one good to tell yourself 'I can never do this again'

You could see if the bar has slimline tonic (not sure how that would taste with peach schnapps tho!) :)

Thanks I did consider taking some mini cans with me haha.

i agree I want to do this for the long haul and nights out are going to happen(very rarely due to having 6 boys) I do want to enjoy myself and not sitting there feeling guilty all night. I think I will have my night out and get right back on it and no takeaways at the end of the night. Quite prepared to not have a great loss or at all, as I know it's not a regular binge.

If you know it's a rare occasion and not something you would likely do every week, I would just go and enjoy yourself. I would set myself a rough limit though, and try not to use it as an excuse to eat everything under the sun lol. It's really easy to say 'I'm having the night off!' and go crazy, but realistically, having a couple of drinks won't send you off track, but having a few drinks, a few slices of pizza, bar snacks etc etc, that's a different story.

Also, might be a good idea to fill up on free and superfree food before you go out, you'll be much less likely to overdo it if you're full! Either way, have an awesome time! :)

Ah I think you've misunderstood my ' in the past ' comment

Of course people go out and go on holiday or have meals out. I've successfully maintained for over 18 months by changing my mindset. The old me would have had ' days off ' and just gone for it! I now have what I fancy on a night out or weekend away but I do it mindfully and I make allowances elsewhere to accommodate the splurge
