Hi I was wondering if anyone can help.I've been a member of sw for 9 months, have lost 4 stone 2 lb up to now which I'm so chuffed about.still have about 6 stone to lose.I have given up smoking 8 days today using a vape cig,I'm so happy I've finally done it after smoking for years.I got weighed today, have stuck to plan 100% but have gained 2 lb.I'm so upset and gutted, has anyone else experienced this? I really thought I wouldn't gain as I haven't been snacking on junk or anything. It's making me want to start smoking again :(

Sometimes our bodies just do that its a mystery but keep going think of what you have lost so far. Ive experienced gain and maintains when ive been really good and just wanted to give up but one week shouldn't ruin what we have aimed for
Keep going :) xx

Soemtimes bodies get a bit of a shock when you do something extreme like give up smoking. My SW buddy who I go to class with had something very similar happen to her. When she quit she put on a 1lb each week for 2 weeks and them lost 4. All while being 100% on plan.
You are doing one of the greatest things you can do for your body. Keep in mind why you are stopping smoking and all the brilliant things it will do for you. Well done for deciding to quit.

Keep on keeping on.

Thankyou so much for replying,it's so disheartening.I even had a little cry this morning! I will keep going and sticking to plan and hope my metabolism sorts itself out x

Well done on quitting smoking! The 2lb gain may have nothing to do with this. I sometimes had a gain on my journey, despite being 100% on plan. It's just one of those unexpected blips that happen from time to time! Keep going!!

Keep going! Giving up smoking sometimes ranks even higher than losing weight in good things you can do for your health (and, especially when you get older, your looks too!). Don't put too much pressure on yourself in what must be a tricky week. I'm fairly sure there have been studies that say smoking only keeps people's weight down when it reduces their appetite, so as long as you stick to SW plan I'm sure you will start losing again soon once your body gets used to things. Many, many non-smokers lose very successfully on SW and you can too. Think how amazing it will feel as you lose weight AND are smoke free. What an achievement.

Nope, I gave up smoking 11 weeks ago and haven't had any weight gain. Well done on stopping and good luck! :) I think the gain is just one of those things. Don't get disheartened, stick at it, you may have an even bigger loss next week! :D x

Don't let it make you give on either the weight loss, which you are doing BRILLIANTLY with, or quitting smoking. It could just be a blip and will all settle down soon enough. I'd keep a food diary for the next few weeks just to make sure you're sticking to the plan... sometimes it's easy to forget a few syns here and there (I'm having one of those weeks!!) so this will just keep you focussed. Good luck

If you ask your consultant they can help you with this. There are 'tools' (I think it's a leaflet) to help members who are giving up smoking while on slimming world. May be useful...
