i need help too- joined SW first week of Jan- and had realy slow loses- like 0.5-1.5lb a week...now i no a loss is a loss which is great but when im due to move abroad in April i was really hoping to shift 2 stone from dec-april...now i lost a total of 9lb by myself before xmas an since joining SW iv lost 6lb.

6lb in 5 weeks on SW is rather poor lets be honest ...i know its a loss and everyones difrent but i really need to be losing 2lb a week and i dont have much more time to play with as i leave in 9 weeks...iv already wasted 6 weeks on slow loses....problem is if SW doesnt work them im gona have to go back to my 1200 calories a day diet - which i dont really want to do as id rather just eat all good foods without calorie counting an restricted my body to that amount of calories a day.

i started on EE but as was slow loss i switched to RED days....it started comin off and lost 2lb in my first week on RED but this week iv only lost 0.5lb

i realllyyyyy need to be losing 2lb a week for the next 9 weeks ...pleaseeee give me some advice of any thing i shiould change on red days or maybe im eating to less or too much ? im even eating scan bran everyday lol

here is an average day for me for a Red day ....thanks people :)

B- 2 weetabix (heb) semi skimmed milk (hea) with blueberries - ALWAYS THE SAME

11 - 5 scan bran (heb) 2x 35g phili pots (hea) with ham- ALWAYS THE SAME

L - Chicken breast (frozen chicken no skin) with 2 slices of WW bacon, lettuce, spinach, rocket, tomoatos, onion- French dressing (free)
Snack- a bowl of fresh mixed fruit of - cherries- raspberries- blackberries- blueberries and red grapes (usually 5 of each)

D- fish (either salmon, cod or haddock) broccolli, colliflower, carrotts ( usually fry it all together with soy sauce for veg stir fry)

OR - shephards pie made with extra lean mince, passta, beef stock, onions, and topping made with carrots and swede. ( i will usually take this for lunch the next day too)

OR - bolonaise sauce- extra lean mince, passta, stock, mushrooms, peppers, onions, carrotts.

Syns - curly wurly ( 6 syns ) sometimes 2 syns on herb an garlic salad dressing. i averagly have 7-10 syns a day.

i drink between 2.5 - 3 litres of water a day! the occasional can of diet coke

So im sure im eating enough superfree foods, i prepare all of my meals evry night for the next day at work.

Do you guys have any advice of something i can do diferenlty to boost my lose to 2lb a week? thanks :) xxxxx

Firstly, I would get the idea of "needing" to lose 2lb every single week out of your head. Sorry, but it is very unrealistic that you will lose 2lb every single week. I think you are putting too much pressure on yourself - no wonder you are disappointed. You should be happy with a loss. It's a marathon, not a sprint!

Also, the major thing that hit me was the "always the same". I'd bet that plays a massive part in all of this. Try giving things a bit of a mix up, using different HEx's, Syns and having different meals each week. It will probably give you the boost you need.

I agree with mixing things up. Are you eating a lot of super free foods? I found it hard to believe at first but the super free foods really do help your weightloss. Xxx

I do my food diarys every week for my consultant but she said its all fine and cant think of anything for me to change.....tbh she isnt very interested in anything you ask- anything you ask her she tells you to check the website lol....group is waste of time!...i go in get weighed get my scan bran an leave lol....i was going to change group but not bothered.

even thou the support from the group is very poor i dont really need any motivation from anyone as im 100 percent motivated myself...i still go to group just to get weighed thou

i started at 13 stone 9 and now weight 12 stone 6 ........ my target was 11 stone by april ...but dont think thats gonna happen ayy lol

just annoyed...why cant i be one of these people who loses 5lb a week or 3lb a week....so many people in my group do!....so frustrating! lol

yeh il mix up my heb this week..

it is a marothon for me as i leave in 9 weeks.....tbh its a healthy goal of 2lb a week, im not excatly being unrealistic of sayin i wana lose "5lb a week" which some people in my group actually do lose, 2lb is a healthy amount

il mix my heb up and see if that helps

But this is meant to be a healthy way of life. Not some 9 week crash diet. So what is going to happen in 9 weeks, are you just going to stop? Whether you have reached your goal or not.

2lb is a healthy loss, but you will not find many people who lose 2lb a week every week.

Also, you don't have your stats showing so I can't see your details, but if your weight is already quite "average" then it is common to lose it more slowly. If you only have 18lb to lose (2lb a week for the next 9) then you cannot expect it to come off over night - it is a relatively small amount to lose, which suggests you are not too far off your healthy / ideal weight to begin with. Hence why the process might seem slow to you.

I personally would much rather lose 0.5 - 1lb per week eating healthy and nutritious food than to lose large amounts by following some faddy crash diet.

i started at 13 stone 9 ....i now weigh 12 stone 6.

ok well thanks for the advise, ovbiously your not on the same wave lengh as me as in targets, so again thanks

but if anyone else is in the same mind set as me and wanted the same results being in a similiar situation to me....an there might have something they changed or did then any advise would be welcomed ...thanks :)

Try makings sure your having speed and super speed in your fruit and veggies

Having the same thing for breakfast and lunch can stall as your body isn't having to work as hard ( I have no idea how you eat 5 scan bran yuck lol!!) let alone everyday!

Are you eating super free throughout the day as your snacks?

I like red days, and tend to do ee which turns into a red! But nice to have rice or pasta and not the 2nd Hexb!

ok i will do thank you :) .....thinking of making a soup for lunch tomorow as iv not had soups yet as always stick to chicken salads for lunch

maybe il have my scanbran with my soup?....i actually quite like them ...with philli an ham on there pretty nice i think an soooo filling ....yeh i have a serving o ffruit in morning ....bowl mixed of all drifrent superspped fruit ....an then whilst im waitin fro dinner to cook il usually snack on some fruit if im really hungry il have some packet ham aswell xxxx

Out of interest what height are you? if you are 12.6 now does losing the 2lb a week put you at final target? I do red days and will be honest when i follow the plan i lost 'at least' 2lb a week. However, I have 4 stone to lose, once I get closer to target I will expect it to slow down.

Also if you were following a calorie counting diet before of 1200 calories it may take some time for your body to adjust to this plan, whereas for ppl going from a high calorie diet it may be more of a shock to the body.

The other thing to do is look at the success express thread and try that?

Also you say you started red and lost 2lb but this week only 0.5, so if the week before you lost 2lb it might be your body just resisting, it took me about 3 weeks for my body to go with the flow with red days. Also if * week coming up that could affect it.

How rude! You asked for advice and I gave you it honestly. Sorry I did not just tell you what you wanted to hear.

If you want to hit an overall target of 2st down then you only need to be losing 1.5lbs per week considering you are already 15lbs down.

Having 'you need to lose x amount' per week is putting pressure on yourself and setting you up for failure. For each week you don't lose x amount it makes the other weeks harder. I find it's those times when I think what's the point and find my head in the cupboard eating rubbish.

Completely get that you're frustrated by weight loss being slooowwww. But the thing I've learnt after years of dieting (sometimes very successfully, LOL) is that no two people lose weight in the same way, that the older you get the slower the weight comes off (bl**dy unfair that one!) and no diet will ever be quite so effective as the first one you tried.

SW is a gentle way of dieting. Some people lose loads and those are the people you notice - but most of us lose between 1-2lbs a week (and usually nearer 1lb than 2lbs). You're only likely to get losses of at least 2lbs a week every week if you've got lots to lose - and even then, it's not guaranteed. My BMI is nearly 40 and despite sticking to plan 100% I'm lucky to lose a pound a week. I've lost weight really quickly in the past but then put it back equally quickly... With SW I feel more confident that I may be able to keep the pounds off, cos I'm learning a way of eating that's sustainable.

In all honesty, the only way you could be more sure of losing 2lbs a week would be to switch to a calorie counting diet - you'd probably need to drop to 1,000 calories a day. But weight lost quickly tends to be gained back really quickly - it's really hard to sustain a diet of 1,000 calories a day for any length of time. Plus there's still no guarantee of that magic 2lbs a week. I've had the odd week on 450 calorie/day meal replacement diets where I've lost no weight at all.

So, it comes down to a choice of settling for slower weight loss - and having a better chance of keeping the pounds off, or, going on a calorie-restricted diet that gives you faster weight loss - but a real risk that any pounds lost will pile back on quickly when you slip up.

To be honest, I've not read all the responses to this so I apologise if I duplicate anything said already.

It is working, you're losing weight. It's just not giving you the results that you want. You have to decide what's more important to you, that you can eat food without having to worry about being hungry, weighing or measuring or losing a set amount of weight in a certain time.

I don't mean to sound blunt in saying this. I've just wasted too much of my own time having the same mindset and getting no where. If you want to lose a lot of weight quickly, it will mean doing something a tad more restrictive than sw although there is no guarantee even then you'll get the results you want.

Your post says "Slimming world not working, why". The thing is it is working...... It just isn't working the way you've decided you want it to. I would love to lose more per week but it just isn't going to happen. If there were a magic formula for losing 2lbs per week guaranteed we'd all be doing it.

I get that your frustrated and angry that it isn't coming off quick enough, but this frustration and anger is coming out in your post and we are all here to help and support each other, but to be honest you really were rude to Princess_Stevie when she was only trying to give you the benefit of her experience and she knows what she's talking about, just look at her stats.

SW is a process of trial and error to begin with finding out what does and doesn't work. Some get on better with EE, some Red and some Green. Some mix it up. Some have all their syns, some only 10. Some have syns for chocolate treats and some only use them for extra ingredients in a meal. Some don't get on having too many carbs and some swear by lots of water. You could try a week or two of success express but its very early to be going down this road. I guess what I'm trying to say is this diet really does work as there are so many people who have lost stones and stones, but it's also a lifestyle change and I'm afraid it does involve time and patience. Regrettably, these seem to be the two things you don't appear to have at the moment. Rather than focusing on the negative aspect of this, you need to focus on the positive. You say you have wasted 6 weeks, but you haven't have you. You have lost weight and you will be leaving the country a lot lighter.

I totally get where you're coming from. Diets in the past have yielded a 2lb loss per week on average yet SW is not getting anywhere near the same results. Weigh in sessions are embarrassing and I had to really hold back the tears last week when everyone to my right and left were being clapped for losing 2-5 lbs each. I stayed the same and got looks of pity instead. It was my second weigh in.
Obviously I have no advice for you, just wanted you to know you're not alone. x

Have you had any feedback on your food diary from your consultant Mumpsimus?

PS - I really wish they wouldn't do the clapping bit

I think having seen princess stevies before and after photos on here and how much she has lost then perhaps it is probably her advice that is best to take.

Ha! I just actually lolled at your username, title underneath AND your avatar :D I have that pic on my fridge :)

Yes, the consultant said the food diary is great. She says to stick at it.
