hi i have been doing slimming world for 3 months online, and although i am loosing weight it is only very slow, 1 pound a week sometimes nothing, i follow the plan with eating vedge salad and use my healthy extras, but cant seem to loose more than that, i read about losss of 2 to 4 pounds aweek and i feel disheartened that i cant seem to loose more, is this diet for everyone or should i change to snother diet,......

To be brutally honest 2 - 4 lbs per week is not realistic. 1 -2 is what SW would be expecting you to lose. We are all different and we all lose at different rates. Slow and steady wins the race everytime. While this may frustrate the hell out of you it is the most sensible way and most likely to stay off.

What I would say is that you could try Red or Green which works better for some. I like the variety of EE but I think it is a lot slower. Also, you could try a week or two of success express. This may make a difference for you. Also, I note you don't have a lot to lose and you will read time and time again, the closer you get to goal the harder it is to shift. Your BMI is 24.1 so you are in the healthy weight range and I suspect this may impact on your losses. I'm not sure changing to another diet will make much difference but mixing the plan up slightly may help you or you could try eating some different food groups (are you eating the same stuff over and over??) Good luck with everything, keep at it, it does work :D

Hi

are you drinking enough water? And are you using your syns?

yes i know it is a healthy rate and yes it does annoy the hell out of me, the EE fits my lifestyle better, and i enjoy the freedom, i do tend to eat the same things but because i am limited with cooking things at work i do the best i can salad/cookedmeat/couscous, and fruit, but i do take on board what you say, and give it a bit longer...:gen157:

Hi

are you drinking enough water? And are you using your syns?
i have always said i never drink enough water, that is one of my biggest failings when i diet, but i do try, and no i dont use all my syns i may use up to 6 or 7 but some days i dont have any , probably not enough though...:busted:

You should try and use your syns and drink more water and that may help

Yeah itwillwork drink lots of water and actually have the 5-15 Syns.
If you starting at 5 Syns and struggling to lose weight, as daft as it sounds raise the Syns!

Absolutely! I did a week where I limited myself to only 5 syns, stuck to plan 100% and did my body magic and lost 0.5lb. The following week I decided to max out my syns each day with the full 15, still stuck to plan etc and lost 3.5lbs! It goes against your logical mind, but for some reason having more syns worked for me! Weird but true. Try it and see what works for you

Also how much weight do you have to lose? I wanted to lose about a stone when I started and find that it's coming off very slowly but sometimes I think it's because I only have a fairly small amount to lose?

Given that your start weight is not exactly huge could explain it too. If you don't have a great deal to lose, or are already within a healthy weight / BMI range then the losses can be slower.

But the fact is, you are still losing weight. And you are doing so by learning to eat more healthy, nutritious meals. I would rather have "slow" losses following a healthy, sustainable plan such as Slimming World, than to lose drastic amounts each week on an unhealthy, unsustainable crash diet - after which, it is likely you'd regain everything you lost, once you switch back to "normal" eating again.

I guess it depends what is most important to you.

I remember my weight loss being a lot slower than others, usually between 0.5-1.5lb per week. But its better than maintaining or gaining, which is what I had been doing before..! And if you lose 0.5lb every week for a year that's still heading towards 2st!x

I was talking to a dietician the other day and she said that, particularly people that aren't hugely overweight, they need to be careful with crash dieting, i.e. losing large amounts regularly. Apparently often at least half that weight is muscle, leading to that phenomenon 'skinny-fat', where a person looks flabby even if they're small. Then if they regain weight, it's often mostly fat gain. Meaning they're fatter than when they started. I know it's frustrating. I'd love to lose the same amount each week as a bigger person tends to. But I'm doing SW to, yes be healthier, but honestly, to look good. I don't want to look flabby or loose skinned at target. Want to be a toned, sleek, slim beauty:p I bet you're going to look fantastic, toned and smooth skinned when you reach target

I've been on the plan 4 years, and average no more than 0.5lb a week loss. Some weeks i lose a pound, then i can go a few weeks without budging. Everyone is different, your body will lose at the pace it wants to lose. If you stick with it, it will come off, SW is a way of life not a diet, it shouldn't matter how long it takes as long as you get there eventually, its better than going on some crash diet then gaining it all back a few months later.
