Please can someone clarify the syns for tweaks - like using cous cous, potato mash not as intended but in another manner. thanks

I've not heard of this, our leader tells us to use things in different ways, ie, Smash mash potato pizza base (never tried it though!) so I didn't realise if you did this it would then be synned?

I was always told the same and have made smash pizza before but I was told in class on Monday that it must be synned

I can't claim to know anything about this as I never went to group long enough to find out and rely on this site for most of my info, but I found this if it helps a bit, I'm sorry it doesn't give the exact syn value, which is what you may be actually looking for, I think you would syn the smash or couscous etc by volume if not used in the way it was intended ........http://www.minimins.com/syn-values/320517-tweaking-smash.html#post6483325 and http://www.minimins.com/slimming-world/307473-couscous-pancakes-help.html

I reckon if you use tweaks as part of a meal, then it's not going to affect but when people start using tweaks as snacks you're not going to get the weight loss!

I agree with Rochelle if "tweaks" are being used as part of your meal then it should be fine. I have made the smash pizza base and its lovely, its the base for a meal so I don't see the problem just load it with superfree, HEA for cheese or syn and it should be fine. What would be the difference from having for examply, meat, smash mash and veg? Its pratically the same meal just a different way of preparing.

I use a small amount of smash to thicken stews and casseroles if needed, I think its better than using cornflour? Our consultant says if little tweaks don't affect your results then carry on, if they do affect your results then take a second look at them.

I totally agree - common sense would dictate that if you're making a cake out of cous-cous for example, and you eat the entire thing in one afternoon in addition to your regular meals then you probably need to syn it! ;)

The only difference with the pizza base for me is I could easily eat a whole pizza made with one pack of smash but I could never eat a whole pack of smash made up as directed into mashed potato. The potato is much more filling than the pizza base.

That said though it's going to be much better than traditional pizza base so I think as long as people are still getting the losses they want then there's no real harm.

Thanks for clarifying this as I was concerned about some of the tweaks. When I did SW before it was because Extra Easy and the available tweaks were limited by Red or Green choices.
