If you could redesign SW, what would you do!

As the title says, how would you design the way SW works.

1/ Allow the consultants to plan their own ways of presenting the plan.
2/ Get SW to answer all Emails.
3/ Change SOTW & SOTM by using % of weight lost not actual weight.
4/ SW to make suitable pre-packed foods similar to WW

With regards to number 4... Check out the SlimmingWorld website and answer the survey!! :D

Although it would be nice if the consultants could tailor the plan to suit the group, having been to other groups when not being able to attend my 'home' group, I quite like the security of knowing what I'm walking in to!!!

Having never emailed SW, I don't know their track record but I'm all for better communication!!

As for SOTW and SOTM, I can understand the thoughts behind changing it to a percentage but I suppose that SW are covering their backs by doing it the current way. Not that anyone WOULD be bothered to work out someones actual weight by knowing how much they'd lost and the percentage  but the fact that someone COULD, would have rammifications with regards to confidentiality of current weight. :sigh:

As for me... I'd throw some money at improving the website. I'm sick of searching for something and getting the message 'More than 30 results found'. Thanks for telling me, just let me see them!!! I'm annoyed that sometimes searching for something simple (under non-branded foods) it comes up 'no product matched your enquiry' - so where am I going to find it?!? Also, I'm sure that I found it the other day under the same section!!

Sorry for the rant but you asked for it!!! :p

No 4 - I think they might be. On the website there is a survey asking what kind of prepacked meals we want. Go along and fill in the survey, it is only one page, but perhaps the sooner they get feed back the sooner the range will be available

No 3 - I agree with you

I would like a better recipe search function so that I don't have to page through 18 pages of apple pie, chicken curry and roast pepper soup when I search for something like fish cakes??? How does that work?

I'd overhaul the app. Make it a full diary and include a food scanner and full data base to identify syns, HEXs and free food. Mfp has it for free...WW have an excellent system although to my knowledge it also doesn't have a food scanner unless that's changed fairly recently. It's been a while since I used it obviously!

As it stands the mobile site is good if you attach a link but the app is useless. Literally.

I'm not fussed about pre-packed foods: I think one of the reasons SW works so well is the emphasis on cooking from scratch. The website definitely needs an overhaul, and though I think it's a good thing that all meetings follow the same format, I think the format itself needs looking at. An awful lot of groups (especially the large ones) are quite boring.

In regards to SW having their own pre pack foods, this has been 'on the cards' for more years than I care to remember!! If my memory serves me right, I'm sure they even trialled it in a certain part of the country at one stage?
Though I agree with others here....SW is more about cooking from scratch these days and although it might be ideal for an odd occasion for some people, I wouldn't buy them.

Size of classes....when I attended a class, the Consultant was amazing, so much so that the class grew and grew!! It was too big. Everything was rushed because of the time factor and fitting everyone in. It was spoiled by its own success. Eventually, the class was split and she held an earlier class and a later one (and another on another day!) which did help but even so, they were still large classes. I guess you can't limit the size because you never know whos going to turn up each week but I definitely think smaller groups are more effective.

And, yes I agree with % weight loss targets, so that everyone stands a fair chance of recognition

I dont go to group but the reason i chose to follow sw was my love of cooking and the fact it doesnt push its own brand - unlike ww.

wen i reserched ww alot of it was usin its own brand of products like breads or ready meals. I think sw would be silly to introduce this as group sessions i would imagine could turn into a marketing speech rather than support?

Just something to think about?

Yes I agree. The lack of promotional stuff is what sets it apart from WW. For me anyway. In my head it would spoil the heart of SW if they produced a bunch of prepackaged labelled up snacks and meals.

I would love them to do more snacks like the hifi bars. Maybe their own brand crisps. But I totally agree doing ready meals would go against the cooking from scratch rule that makes SW so good.

I agree with all of these, getting the consultant to prepare their own sessions to suit their individual groups would be a much better idea. I'd be happier with less clapping too, maybe save it for someone reaching their 10%, target, etc, so it feels more 'special'. I once went to a class where she explained that she only 'does' clapping when the area manager went there, and we were warned when she was coming, lol!

I think % would work better for SOTW/M too. Also, it's not always just about the actual weight lost, it's about what that individual has achieved, a loss after a few STS and someone struggling would be a better SOTW, sometimes, than a person who finds it easy to lose 4lb every week, although, they should still be rewarded too! :)

I don't buy much in the way of pre-packed/ready meals, but it might be nice to have something 'free' as a back-up when you haven't the time to cook from scratch and you can't face another jacket potato! It would be nice to see more low-syn snacks or HE's like Hi-Fi bars too.

I'd like to add that I would also have a forum on the official website, with moderators and people to contact with any queries. :) x

For me it would be number 3 (and I have said before on this site too!)

I don't agree with 4 though as I like the act the sw not like ww on that type of thing.

The website and app could most defiantly do with an update!

I would definitely like to see the format of the meetings changed. I'm on Week 6 and I haven't actually learned anything much. It takes a whole hour (or more on a busy week) to do all the weight losses and clapping. Then SOTW, the raffle and that's it. Last week I didn't stay for the meeting because I just didn't want another hour or more of just going around the room with the weight losses. I do wonder what an average size is for a group? I think there is about 35 - 40 in mine.

Definitely agree about the app and website, they need to be totally redesigned !

I think if I'd find some prepacked stuff useful. I love cooking but sometimes when I don't have time I end up with obscure dinners that are random bits chucked together.

- does anyone have a link to the survey? It's not on main page of website for me?

The search tools are rubbish.

I certainly don't want more pre-packaged food like WW. I think one of the reasons I'm enjoying SW is the cooking from scratch & getting away from pre-packaged foods. It's too easy to slip back into old habits when you don't have to think about it too much. One thing I remember about WW is that a lot of their foods aren't the most healthy versions but through branding & promotion make people choose them as the points are calculated for you.

My old C used to run the class in a way were everyone got to discuss their problems, if any, and their successes, this only changed when an area manager was in, I agree just doing the gains & losses takes far too long, I noticed when we got a new C and she just didn't get time to explain/discuss SW at all there was no hex etc updates & I remember thinking if I was paying for this I'd be pretty pi$$ed off.

I agree their website does need re-designing, the search tools are poo, I'd like a comprehensive, update to date, easy to find, list of all hexs.

Ooh fab thread!

My ultimate want had already been mentioned a couple of times. Get with the techy times!!!

I once ventured to the dark side (ww) and their app and website is absolutely fantastic! Their meeting was good too. Little booklets were given out each week, and a 'topic' discussed, and not just the clapfest that my Sw group tends to be.

The second change would be image therapy. Don't get me wrong, it is good, and it does work, but it also gets tedious, and there is definitely room for improvement! x

I'm sure SW did do frozen ready meals several years ago, though they may have just been trialled in our area. I know they did do pouches of tuna in dressing, the lime and black pepper one was gorgeous and I would love for them to bring that back.

I much prefer WW meetings, though when I did SW before the meeting was much better. The consultant just had a quick review of everyones progress and then would discuss recipes, and low syn items though she did admit she didn't follow the usual meeting format.
