    Do I try slimming world again?

    I was an active member of minimins back in 2011 before getting married, I was on the Exante diet and crashed and burned after about 6 months and gained all my weight back + more and ended up around the 18 stone mark in 2012. When I started exante I was around 17.7stone and went down by about 20lbs

    So I thought I would give losing weight another go! I'm currently 16stone 1 , I haven't been dieting per say but exercising more and trying to make better choices but I know I can do better.

    I really do not want to "feel" like I am on a diet, but I definitely need one! I'll never go back to a VLCD again after my experience with Exante, I've tried slimming world but found it horrifically expensive but maybe I was just going over the top with the items I bought. I'd love to hear how those of your who have to penny pinch manage with Slimming World.

    My sister joined slimming world 56 weeks ago and has managed to lose about 5/6 stone and is looking fantastic!

    Last July I bought a Siberian Husky puppy in an attempt to bully me into doing exercise, Huskys need a good 1-2 hours vigorous exercise per day otherwise they will destroy your house and everything you love , and I must say it works wonders

    Definitely SW all the way! I never feel like I am truly on a diet, I see it as a structured healthy eating plan it's so fab I sing SW praise from the roof tops lol

    -62lb to date of -62lb total! Target reached 28/08/14!!

    Lol - I think you know the answer you'll get on this site, given that it's a SW one!

    It's far kinder to your body than a VCLD, is sustainable long-term and you learn a new relationship with food so that the weight stays off (That sounds judgemental, but it isn't meant that way). You've seen how SW works for your sister - it was seeing how it worked for my niece that got me started.

    It doesn't have to be expensive - you might appear to spend more on food in the shop, but the chances are you'll save on takeaways and 'little extras' which you might not currently factor in to your shopping - a morning latte/muffin, bag of crisps from the work vending machine, a bar of chocolate when you put petrol in the car etc. (I'm obviously not saying you do all or any of those things, but just giving examples of easily forgotten spending).

    There is a useful thread here http://www.minimins.com/slimming-wor...ts-useful.html (Where the bargains are at and anything else thats useful.) which can help keep costs down and don't feel that you have to use fresh veg & fruit - frozen ones are equally nutritious and there's no waste. Lentils, pasta, potatoes and basic range passata and tinned toms are all cheap.

    Try it, you might like it!

    It is definitely not restrictive and a way of eating you can maintain it for life, it needen't be expensive. I always make sure I have plenty of lean meats and fruit and veg in, with just a few key ingredients on hand you can make many delicious meals. If I want to make something a bit special I just buy the stuff in when I need it, so i don't need to keep buying perhaps more expensive stuff in regularly that may not get used right away. And if it's something you can freeze you can make a little extra and you have a nice meal ready whenever you want it. I fnidmaking a bigger portion which will give you 2 meals and freeze one uses less ingredients than making 2 meals separately.

    If you want a slow and steady weightloss, SW is great. It wont be a quick fix, but it has helped me see that you can still have a life, but eat sensibly.

    I think you should give it a try! I only find it expensive when I do red days getting fish. Green days are all your starchy staples that are mostly cheap. I try not to get things like mug shots or branded food which adds up. Buy fruit on offer and veg in season is cheaper.
    So I don't waste food I always make an 'all in' veg chilli so I don't throw things away.
    I'm don't freeze things cause I always forget about it or never seem to want it again! But you could batch cook?

    Ive been on lots of low cal diets and it's miserable, I hate counting cals or anything like that. I'm loving slimming world this last week I'm so much happier and more energetic. I look forward to planning meals and to be honest my husband hasn't even noticed I've started ANOTHER diet! He's noticed the 8lbs loss in weight though!
    Planning is the main thing to save money and keeping on track. Give it a solid month of sticking to it 100% see how you feel? X

    I started back again this week too. I did the 5:2 diet for a while, but due to the number of painkillers I need to take, I need to be able to eat, so SW was an obvious choice to try again. The ability of being able to eat enough to not be hungry is a huge benefit

    I'm a serial yo-yo dieter (hence the name).

    I got to over sixteen stone at the end of 2013 and that was a stone bracket I had told myself I would never get to (in the same way I said this at 13, 14 and 15 stone)...

    Anyway I was of the frame of mind that I had to do "something!" and that something was SW as it ticked all the boxes (big portions, something always available to eat, a diet where I would be discouraged from starving myself all day so that I could have 'naughty but nice' stuff and definitely a plan where I didn't have to count calories).

    I'm 20lbs down after 11 weeks which isn't as quick as I'd lose it on a sole source plan. I have had the odd few days off.

    At first I did try and incorporate it into the family diet but that did work out expensive. So now, I just cook as normal for husband and the kids, and follow the SW plan myself. As I do this it means that there's lots of leftovers to either eat over a few days or freeze. Some people might say this isn't for them, but it works out okay for me.

    It does work out dear at first too as you tend to have to buy in lots of herbs and spices and things that you may not have in, but once you get these out of the way they last for ages.

    Meal planning also obviously helps as you can make sure that you don't throw out any ingredients you buy in.
    10% target = 23.5lbs (ACHIEVED 15 WEEKS)
    Next stone down bracket = (2.5lbs to go) (ACHIEVED 22.05.14)
    Get rid of weight I gained in last job = 34.5lbs (3.5lbs to go) (ACHIEVED 04.06.14)
    Get below the lightest I have been since doing SS-ing = 39.5lbs (10.5lbs to go)
    Next stone down bracket = 12.5lbs to go
    20% target = 47lbs (15lbs to go)
    <30 BMI target (overweight, not obese) = 51.5lbs (18.5lbs to go)
    Interim Target = 26.4lbs to go
    Actual target: 65.5lbs (33.5lbs to go)
    Healthy BMI target: 81.5lbs (50.5lbs to go) - I fear I will disappear at this weight
