    Skimming through posts, I am pleased that everyone still seems to enjoy vodka and wine, I know you are meant to count them as syns but on previous S/W journeys I have neglected to always add mine and did always still seem to lose - so fingers crossed this will occur again lol!

    If you don't syn for it tho, there is nothing stopping you drinking as much as you want. Say you have 1 vodka or wine every night that's 28 syns or 36ish for wine that your not accounting for, and I do think this will definitely slow your losses down eventually.

    I only really have a drink on a Friday or a Saturday night so maybe as I'd not always had fully 10-15 syns every day is where my saving grace was. Will keep an eye on it this time round!!!! x

    I normally go out every weekend.. After all, I am only 20 so definitely not giving up my social life. I've managed to lose nearly 2 stone in 11 weeks.

    I tend to not syn as much during the week but always measure my 'pre drinks' before I go clubbing.. That's usually around 40 syns (eeeek). Then may have a few more when I'm out.

    It seems to work for me but everyone is different I suppose. I went out this weekend and didn't stick to what I usually do and drunk A LOT and I don't think I'm going to lose this week so I definitely think watching what you are drinking helps!
    Slimming World - Joined 15th Jan 2014.

    Week 1 - 4 = 10.5lb lost.
    Week 5 - 8 = - 10lb lost.
    Week 9 - 12 = 10lb lost.
    Week 13 - 16 = 8.5lb lost.
    Week 17 - 20 = 9.5lb lost.
    Week 21 - 24 = 8.5lb lost.

    Total loss 4st 1lb... TARGET

    I'm always out socialising at the weekends and have never synned what I'm drinking though I'm super careful through the week to accommodate this

    I think that's fine, as you cut back before you go out or after to do some damage limitation. It's when you have your 15 syns every day anyway and then don't count your alcohol that it would start to affect your losses

    yes, I've also changed what I drink as well. I stick to Martini Extra Dry as it is only 2.5 syns per measure and mix with half sugar free pink lemonade and half sugar free strawberry and kiwi so its like a cocktail

    Yes, when I'm at home having a few drinks, I like to add diet pink lemonade or some of the tropical flavoured sparkling waters to my vodka as it does indeed feel like your drinking some exotic kinda cocktail and then when I'm out I alternate between diet coke, soda or diet lemonade (when available).

    I think cutting back on alcohol has been one of the key factors in SW working well for me.
    Also, if I had continued to try to fool myself about my alcohol consumption, I would be heading towards real problems around it (psychological and physical). Not saying that applies to everyone but do beware! Alcohol isn't just fattening, it's also a drug, can be dangerous, and is almost entirely empty calories.
    But you can have some and enjoy it, and your tolerance will change over time too.

    This is how I feel. I still have wine at the weekends (and syn it), but cutting down my overall consumption has been a major factor in my weightloss.

    When I aw younger I NEVER synned my alcohol and lost weight no bother. Now I'm nearing 30 and don't drink, can't exercise because of ill health and have the dieted on and off for 15 years I know I'll have to be super careful.

    Seriously though. Personally, I don't syn it but also limit my daily syns to about 3 or 4 (sugar in coffee). I also make sure I don't eat anything while drinking but drink lots of water.
    Whatever works for you.

    I do see bigger losses on low alcohol weeks but I suspect it's due to hangover food.
