Hi all!

Has as anyone else tried the couch to 5km challenge from the nhs as body magic? I started yesterday and it felt amazing! This is coming from someone who until now HATED running with a passion and only ever really do hiking! Ache like crazy today ... Who know my stomach muscles would get such a work out! Really pumped to do it again! Just hope I can keep it up! really interested to see the effect on my weight loss as I have never really consciously done extra regular exercise (except maybe parking further away!)

Feeling positive!!

I've never heard of that Rach is it something you do through your surgery or from online NHS? Well done for joining x

It's called couch to 5k and it's an nhs program you can get online. It runs off podcasts which you can down load if the internet or iTunes. The podcast is like you personal trainer, it tells you how long to run for to help build your stamina. It is well worth a go!

I did it! My first run was just one mile, and in that mile I had to stop three times lol, three months later I was jogging four miles in 35 mins, if I can do it anyone can! The effect on weight loss was fantastic, and it really toned my body, I don't run now as much as I used to (3 times a week) I usually now go once a week but also do kettlercise, nothing better than getting up early on a Sunday morn and going for a run, it improves my mood, and keeps me motivated for the day ahead x

I love it too but if you're looking for something similar but fun try zombies run or zombies 5k.

They're like the NHS c25k (and then 30/60 mins) but have a story between music where you're running for supplies after the zombie apocalypse. It's really silly but a great storyline!

That sounds ace! Where can I find this!!!

Well done bobcat. Can I recommend therunningbug as a really friendly website where you log your runs. Great advice too.

It's in Google play by six to start.

Thank you liquoricet! , just been having a quick look. I am a complete beginner so think I'll get some good advice there! Second run tomorrow x

Well, I can't quite believe it but I've made it to week 3, and today's runs were surprisingly ok! still need to get to grips with the running bug site..hope everyone else is still.on the c25k track :) x
