gain on week 1?

Has anyone ever seen anyone gain in week 1? (Not that I'm paranoid and anxious about weigh in of course!)

It can also happen if the person was following a different diet immediately before. Particularly something like vlcd or meal replacement. It can take a couple of weeks for the body to catch up to "normal" eating.

I have read that people have had a gain in the first week.

There are various reasons

1) You're previous diet (poor diet)
- it can take up to two weeks to show any impact on the scales both a loss or gain

2) You're previous diet (a previous diet aka vlcd or Slim Fast) - The increase in the volume of food could cause a gain

3) If you're a lady TOTM occurs the same time as weigh in

4) You've started exercise the same time as your weight loss and your body is in 'shock'

5) Water retention especially if you've increased your water.

6) The plan wasn't followed properly

These are some of the reasons I'm aware of x

What the others have said but don't forget that if you are new it can take a few weeks to get your head around the plan... just make sure you are using your books as much as possible, check everything and keep a diary for your consultant to look at.

Good luck with your first WI!

Sorry just seen you are rejoining... I would double check EVERYTHING even if you think you know it is free, a healthy extra A/B or the syn value as these can all change and it's very easy to think 'I've done it before, I KNOW the plan'.

Thank you :) I'm being very careful to check things, just worrying. First attempt was -4.5 then -0.5 following week, second was -1 and -3. Hopefully I can manage similar again :)
So hard to stay off the scales at home!

I've stuck to the plan and gained in the first week before, but I did go on to lose quite a bit of weight.

I put it down to the volume of food I ate in preparation for dieting (you know, "I'm starting a diet on Wednesday, so I'm going to eat ALL of the food I won't be able to eat for a year in the next 5 days!") even though I'd been 'good' all week, the weight comes on from the previous week.

Generally though, most people do have a loss in their first week, so try not to worry and analyse a gain if it happens. x

It's my first week too, my WI is Monday and I'm so nervous! I don't want to be someone who gains in their first week :(

It seems like such a long wait! I'm trying to avoid our bathroom scales in the mean time

I manage to get +200g on my first week.
Not cuz I wasnt on plan. I was - or so I was thinking. My mistake was wine. For god knows what reason I manage to get my wine syns wrong and I do love my wine. I was little shock when I found out about wine.
But next week was way better :)

I lost 5.5 :D
