Whats the best way to tone up while losing weight ?

Hi wondered if any of you lovely people could advise me about toning up my sagging body :) ! I have lost a stone with 2 to go, while trying on some new smaller clothes I really noticed how flabby I am . I have started jogging about 8 weeks ago so I am doing some exercise . Do you think I can improve my appearance with some weight training ? I'm nearly 50 so know realistically ill never be super toned I never have been ! Any advice would be really appreciated especially if any one has been in my situation and actually managed to achieve becoming more toned ? Thanks x
 
Yes, definitely add some weight training. I use toning DVDs at home, love the Jillian Michaels ones. She mixes mostly strength training with some cardio in most of her DVDs. Personal favourite is Ripped in 30 but I alternate through quite a few depending on my mood. All you'll need is a set of dumbbells, although half the exercises use your own body weight so you don't even need those to start.
 
Hi bought a Hola hoop today and a twist board thing plus I've got some kettle bells so will be working out with these later :)
 
Can you let us know how the hula hooping goes? I've been thinking of investing!
 
Ah but does it work? Can you see/feel a difference?

Ive ordered a pilates DVD as I used to love my class but may supplement it with a hoop if someone can sell me on the benefits :D

I love my hula hoop and try to do it every day. The only days I don't manage it are when I stay with my OH. I'm debating buying another one to leave at his house. :D

One quick question as I'm new to this how long should you hola hoop for ?
 
I bought and immediately LOVE my weighted hoop. Managed 12 mins first try :) I could never do it as a kid so I'm a born again hooper :)

but I can feel the bruising already haha.
 
I tend to do 12 minutes a day so far. 6 to the right and 6 to the left. Im trying to build up minute by minute :D

I bought my hoop this evening but didn't have chance to try it out. My husband's out with work tomorrow night so I shall try it out when the kids are in bed and my spud is cooking :D

I'm glad to hear that people are getting to grips with them even if they've never been able to hula hoop in the past. I even struggle to do it on Wii Fit with an imaginary hoop lol.
 
You didn't hang around to get one.Yeah be careful with how long you do it for to start with as you will get sore.:D
No, I'm very much an "of the moment" type person. Simply sent husband up to argos to pick it up after reserving it.

It looks worse taken close up. It's because I only went in one direction. I'm sure it will improve as my technique improves :)
 
Gold gym dance workout on the wii is great for all over body and shawn t t25 dvd very good but very hard
