    Constant guilt on sw?!

Does everyone else just feel like they are always over eating on sw?

I've been trying to get organised and plan my food. Rejoined for a little stint.

I hate feeling full/sick all the time .. I just feel like sw makes me feel very conflicted

I've lost a lot via vlcd so maybe this is why?

I feel **** after today - 100 percent on plan.

Thinking if I stick to small portions it might not be such a headscrew!!

Any input would be appreciated!! The 'big eating' sw ethos just dosent do my mental health much good!!

I've always had small portions since joining slimming world. I figured that just because pasta, rice, potatoes etc are free, it doesn't mean I have to eat mounds of them. When I joined, I bought myself a smaller plate because I'm one of these people who eats everything on my plate. If it's there, then I eat it!
As time has gone on, if I eat out and get served a big portion then I can't finish it.
Have go at different things within the plan and see what suits you best. You shouldn't be feeling rubbish, it'll probably just take a bit of time to adjust.x

If you are feeling full/sick all the time, I would say you are eating too much. You are supposed to stop eating when you are comfortably full, especially as you have followed a VLCD, you probably can't take eating huge amounts.
How about having say, 5 smaller meals instead of having 3 large ones...if that what you are doing now?

I agree with lentil2, you really shouldn't be feeling sick all the time - it's not compulsory to eat huge amounts on SW!

Just eat until you feel satisfied, I also use a smaller plate to help with portion size though.

If you went straight from VLCD to SW, your body is probably going to have to take some time getting used to "real" food again. Also maybe something you're eating isn't agreeing with you? I know I always feel crap when I have things like pasta, so I'm still avoiding it even though it's allowed.

I am struggling with guilt around syns at the moment. I just can't get my head around being allowed a treat every day, let alone up to 300 calories (in non-syn speak) worth. But I am a binge eater, so I always have that fear of triggering one every time I have a bit of chocolate. I think I'm going to switch to having things like nuts next week, since their syn/calorie value is quite high, but it's a "good" food so shouldn't come with the guilt.

I've been maintaining/slowly dropping final bit since surgery over a year ago. So used to eating just don't do well with any volume! !!

Syns etc. . Yes I find it all.. both freeing and entirely guilt making/depressing all at once! !
I do have crohns so my tummy can be an issue. I've been mainly having Superfree & healthy extras.

I don't think SW has a "big eating" ethos at all. I have been doing SW for 8 months and never in that time have I felt encouraged or forced to eat a lot. I think the main ethos or focus that comes through loud and clear (to me anyway) is healthy eating and making meals using fresh ingredients from scratch. I do think though that you are right about mental health being a big part of sticking to the plan and losing the weight. Some of the suggestions and ideas here (smaller plate, smaller meals more often, listening to your body when it is full) would certainly help the mental part of the whole process.

Good luck hun. Are you going to group or doing it alone at home? If at a group why don't you have a chat to your consultant and fellow members about ideas and tips to help you change your mental attitude towards the plan. And of course here on the website we are always here to support and help.

I agree, I don't think SW has a big eating ethos at all. Because something is unlimited it doesn't mean you eat it until you feel sick! It means that when you feel truly hungry you can eat it until you feel full, and later if you feel hungry you can eat it again and so on. A lot of it is about intuitive eating- being mindful about your hunger and satiety. When you're hungry you eat, and you concentrate on eating and not eating at the same time as watching TV/reading a book/doing work. And then when your body tells you that it's had enough, you stop. The point is to stop when you are comfortably full and not feeling sick and stuffed. And you are safe in the knowledge that if you get hungry again later you can eat again.

Since joining SW 2 weeks ago my portions have naturally got smaller. It's completely different to calorie counting and WW when you know you get a certain amount of points a day so you push yourself to eat every last one as you know you don't get any more food. But on SW it's better because if I can't finish my dinner I'm safe in the knowledge that I can eat again later if I get hungry, and my urges to binge have disappeared due to that knowledge.
~In the end you only regret the chances you didn't take~

~What you eat in private you wear in public~

When you think about quitting, think about why you started!

I think the problem is, SW want to make sure people know they can eat as much as they want and not go hungry and this is sometimes confused with eating as much as they can!
I'm not saying that no one ever over eats and feels stuffed sometimes, I am guilty of that if something is irristable (!) but to constantly feel bleugh because of the amount of food you are eating just isn't right.
