Tastebuds are changing.

Loving Married Life
I'm having a green day today, just had my 2nd HEB..salted caramel hifi bar and it tasted so sweet it wasn't actually as nice as it was when it first came out. I also had a little bit of a milky bar and again it tasted so sweet..like I could just taste the sugar grains. Whereas before this SW journey I could easily have had a big bar of choc in an evening! Can anyone else relate to changing tastes?

I'm also loving green tea more and more (Twinings gingerbread especially) and going off normal tea. I have one normal or decaf normal tea a day, otherwise it's green tea, water of no added sugar cordial for me!

i'm not complaining though, find it quite amazing!

This is common and one if the reasons SW can be so successful. Our tastes change and our habits adjust. Like you I now only drink green and herbal/mint tea and generally water with some NAS Ribena. I had some Pepsi max the other day as a treat as that was always my go-to drink in hot weather and it was like drinking syrup. Yuck. I say go with it and revel in the fact that your body obviously likes this way of life. I'd say its a good sign for sticking to it!

I've begun to find the same, I still love my three squares of Dairy Milk chocolate sometimes but I don't crave it and am finding I want savoury things more often than sweet. Great isn't it?

Thanks for replying both :) cloudy that's exactly me too. I am definitely going off sweet things. I'm much happier with a plate of SW chips instead of a choccy bar now.

I can't say my love of sweet things has diminished, even after doing SW for almost 3 years! I love my Freddo in the evening, and really enjoy my Rocky Road hifi lights too! I do find that I appreciate the taste far more now that I only have a small amount.

I agree, i also love green tea and have about 8 different flavours now and haven't had a cup of tea with milk and sugars in for weeks, i did have some takeaway pizza on saturday and it made me ill for 2 days as i don't think my body likes the fat anymore so won't be doing that again x

I agree with lardylady, I haven't lost my sweet tooth and still crave chocolate on a regular basis although I have only been on SW about a month, but I have found that I can easily manage with only my hexb of cheese (I was a real cheesefiend before!) and I've noticed a few other little things too.

I think the most amazing thing is that I do feel in control of it, as yet, I've not had a major binge, since February, which for me, is surprising, I've always struggled with that 'I've blown it so now I may as well go completely over the top' thing. I sometimes struggle to use my HexB, usually end up using it with Alpen lights.

I work in an office and with the amount of birthday cake flying around on a daily basis at first on SW it was insanely difficult for me to resist a slice! Now the smell of cake near me actually makes me feel nauseous, much prefer to sit there with a piece of fruit rather than have a slice. Crazy how 6 months ago though I would have put my hand up straight away for a bit of cake!

Taste buds definitely adjust. I was having a pub meal at the weekend and my friend (sw target member) had scampi and didnt enjoy it as she could taste the grease - so used to sw cooking now!!

I was working yesterday and there was a buffet lunch provided. I'd brought along my own SW-friendly lunch, so I ate that and also had some of the fresh fruit platter that had been provided. I happened to be sat in front of the huuuuuugest bowl of ready salted crisps - which used to be one of my favourite things. Simply because I was sat in front of it, I ate 5 crisps (yep, I counted!). They were greasy and oily and not nearly as good as the Walkers Pops I've replaced them with!

I reckon 5 crisps would be about 3 syns or thereabouts - so well within my total for the day - but what a waste of 3 syns!

Definitely agree with her. The greasiness, even the smell of it, certainly turns my stomach now.

Looking up and counting those syns certainly makes you think twice. I always try to look them up BEFORE they fall into my mouth, and more often than not, I decide they just aren't worth it but can then look for something (still synful) that is more worth it, if you see what I mean. :)

My friend tried to talk me into having fish and chips again last week and I could honestly say to her that she should get them and enjoy them but that I didn't feel like it that day. I have to admit to peeling the batter off the fish her kids had left and eating that but it didn't feel like a hardship to turn them down, especially as I'd had some the week before.

Same here can't eat fish & chips or KFC anymore gives me a bad belly.

I'm going to a pub tomorrow with work friends, deciding what I want that isn't greasy. Definitely don't want chips.

How about a jacket potato with steak?

See, for me, I have never lost the taste for 'naughty' food. I don't have a massively sweet tooth anyway, can take or leave chocolate but I'll definitely take it if its there! The week before last, my mother in law brought us our Easter eggs( we don't see her often because we don't live near) and I ate a whole thorntons egg, along with 8 or so chocolates that came with it....and then I have the cheek to say I don't eat chocolate!
I love fat! Yes I love crispy chicken skin, fat on meat, greasy chips and crisps....love, love love crackling on pork and greasy batter...the list goes on.
In 25 years of 'doing' SW, I have never lost the tastes for those type of foods!
Don't get me wrong....I am lucky in that I love healthy foods as well but the bad stuff always seems to outweigh the good and means I am constantly chasing my tail trying to lose a few pounds!!
