    Slow loss in first week

    Hi everyone!

Feeling a little bit disheartened today. I joined SW online last week and have had my first weigh in this morning and only lost 1lb! Has anybody else had a slow loss in their first week? Any tips for next week?

    Thanks! X

There are plenty of people on here who had a small loss in week 1. I had 2lb off then 1lb in week two but it all added up quickly in the end. It's just less publicised than the mega losses some people get which can be due to a switch from a REALLY unhealthy diet, which generally mean they're losing glycogen and water. As you are already within the healthy weight category your losses are likely to be a bit slower. But 1-2lb a week is a healthy rate to lose at and is better for long-term maintenance.

If you're still concerned feel free to post your food diary and I'm sure people will let you know any errors.
Made it to target after nearly ten months on Slimming World and now working to maintain between 10st7 and 10st10, have a super healthy lifestyle, and be happy!

I only lost 0.5lb in my first week, I was quite disappointed, but then lost 2.5lbs in my 2nd week and 6lbs the following week. It can be a slow process, but stick with it as it really does work. I think once you settle into food optimising it gets easier. But I haven't been doing it long, so I am still learning.

Thank you both for replying! I know you are both right I was just a bit taken aback as when I have done SW before I have always had a bigger loss in the first week. However I know this works and it's a marathon not a sprint so I will keep plugging away at it!

Good luck with it :-) I was sceptical at first, now I have been convinced that it works. What helps me is knowing that uf I have a bad day, there is always tomorrow to get back on it.

I lost 2lb in my first week. I was a little disappointed inside but I figure it is a loss not a gain and slow and steady wins the race right?! Lets see how we do next week! x

Your weight is already in the healthy range so you might not lose as fast as other people who have a higher bmi.

When you lost last time were you heavier or had you changed your diet dramatically ?

As others have said, you're in the healthy BMI range so it won't come off as quickly as others. 1-2lb is a healthy weekly loss anyway, I know it can be disheartening but keep going. It'll come off eventually x

I'm exactly the same.....in my first 2 weeks I only lost 3lbs while all the others who joined the same week got their half stone award. My weigh in is today and according to my scales I'm sts... I text my consultant yesterday and she rang me she's so lovely!! My problem is that I'm not eating enough superfree so hopefully that will help this week
    Week 1- 1lb lost
    Week 2- 2lb lost
    Week 3- 1lb lost
    Week 4- 0lb lost
    Week 5-2lb lost
    Week 6-1 lb lost

A loss is a loss, as long as you didn't gain . Don't let it dishearten you.

1lb per week=52 lbs in a year so in a year you will have lost 3.5 stone pretty good!
    31lbs gone!!!!

I gained in my first week! As Gwella says, the biggest losses are usually made by people who are drastically changing their way of eating and who are also overweight by some margin. For someone who is already in the healthy BMI range for your height, you have actually made a very good start!

I am firmly of the belief that the slower you lose the fat, the less likely you are to put it back because healthy habits have a chance to become ingrained. However, as a slow loser I admit I might be somewhat biased!

Just keep on doing what you have been doing - and perhaps start a diary on here - and the time will come when you look back and wonder what you were worrying about.
