Extra Easy Feeling really gloomy!

Hi guys, please help me out!

I started SW five weeks ago and find it great. In the first four weeks I followed the plan and lost 3.5, 2.5, 1.5 and 2.5 pounds. So delighted!

Then last week I weighed in and was 2lbs UP!!! I had followed the plan same as the other weeks, I really had. I was feeling a bit puffy because I had PMT but I figured at worst that might negate any weight loss and I'd STS. But two pounds up!!??!!

i got straight back on the wagon, despite being in the absolute horrors and I'm following the plan this week. But it's Sunday morning, weigh-in is Thursday and my motivation is so low.... I feel that Slimming World won't work for me anymore, that I've gotten all I can from it and maybe I should quit it and try something else.

Has anyone else been through this? Please help, before I so something stupid!:(

Well done on your losses so far! I always gain around tmi usually upto lbs but I know my body now so that week I just ignore the gain because I know I will lose it the following wk!
The plan is clearly working for you I wouldn't give up your body will have just been retaining water! If imagine you will have a nice surprise when you get weighed on Tuesday :)

Thanks Slinkyson, I really hope so but I'm just in the absolute horrors this morning :( Thanks for the encouragement though, much appreciated! It's been fruit for brekkie and it's Quark/potato/veg/egg tortilla for lunch so no slip yet!

Of course, I'm still in my pyjamas, the real test will come when I leave the house........

Don't give up! Weight fluctuates for a million different reasons. I have had weeks where I have stuck to plan 100% and have had a gain or sts. Try and look at your weightloss over a month. As long as the general trend is downwards, that is all that matters.

I realise that this is easy for me to say, and I know how unbelievably frustrating it can be, but it is all about changing your eating habits for good, not just a quick fix. I think I posted this on another thread, but my consultant once said (after several of us in group were complaining that we had gained/not lost): "There is no downside to eating healthily and exercising". So you didn't lose weight this week -you are still building great habits that will stand you in good stead for the rest of your life, and the weight will come off next week or the week after.

Good luck and hang on in there!

Aw thanks Jo! That actually brought a lump to my throat, 'twas exactly what I needed to hear!! There is no downside to eating healthy and exercising - I need to get a poster made of that :eek::eek:

I couldn't agree more. Look at the bigger picture rather than focussing on just 1 week. Keep a note of your weight monthly as well & when you're feeling like you have lost motivation have a look at that to show you just how far you have come x

Don't give up. :)
If it helps I find peppermint tea helps with water retaining. I always have a mug of it the night before weigh in, and when it is my TOTM I drink more of it as it helps me to not feel as bloated and blah.

Focus on how far you've already come and maybe also write a food diary on here to help you out. You'll find that people will help you (and there's the plus side of subscribing to others and getting meal ideas.)

But yeah, if I were you I would honestly just put it down to it being your TOTM and see how you do next week. I bet you feel healthier now so focus on that. :D

Everyone has already given you great advice! I just want to say you have had great losses so far, and sometimes you can have a great week and it doesn't show, but the following week it will. That has happened to me, I was 100% on plan one week and only lost 0.5lb, then the next week lost 6lbs!! Having moments of feeling low and wanting to give up is completely normal, I have had loads, it is how you work through it that matters. I find start fresh can help, go through all my books again and making a plan and keeping a diary.

Good luck with it, you can do it :) and there is loads of support here!

Drink plenty of water :)

I've had two gains and didn't do anything differently those weeks. I find it much more useful to look at a month as a whole rather than an individual week. Chin up!

Thanks so much for all the advice guys, you've really cheered me up......Onwards and downwards!! :D

.... I feel that Slimming World won't work for me anymore, that I've gotten all I can from it and maybe I should quit it and try something else ....

When you have stopped panicking and can look at things logically, I am sure you will see that this just can't be true.

Think about it - for four weeks it worked really well. Then you had a blip. That's all it is, a blip. Everyone has them, you are not unique in this respect.

It could well be that, like thousands of women, you get a bit of a gain every month. Can't be helped - it's just biology.

Guys, thank you so much for all the support!!!! I kept going, am just home from weigh-in and I lost 5lbs this week!!! So I'm totally back on track, still averaging just over two pounds per week.

i promise never to moan and whine again, ever ever ever!!! :D

Excellent loss, you're doing great, well done. :)

I tend to have 2 weeks of good losses and 2 weeks of tiny ones or STS's (strangely it's around the time I ovulate, not TOTM!) but it all balances out and now I know my pattern, on a little loss week, I try to think as long as I'm lighter at the end of the month, then it's all good. x

Well done on the fab loss!! :)

Congratulations on that 5lb loss. There was so much good advice given on your thread. Love minimins xx

That loss is fantastic, just stick with it. I've had a month of being on track with STS or 1lb on! However, keeping the faith because the hard work eventually catches up, as your 5lb loss shows, well done!

You are such gorgeous people!!!!

I'm loving this website, nothing but help and encouragement, every single day

Just think carrielou - with an average of 2lb per week you could lose over 6 stones in a year, which is extremely good, very healthy and is much more likely to be maintained. Your 5lb loss the week after just shows tat stalls and gains happen (and sometimes for no reason which is when they are the most stressful and upsetting!) but if you keep focused and don't give in, the losses come! Well done for not giving up and well done on your loss so far :)
