How do they do it?
Have read some really amazing posts on here, people losing lots of weight a week....congrats to them all.
my question is...I struggle to lose a pound a week, with staying on programme...is it because
1 I am an older woman
2 because I have been trying to diet for most of the last 30 years.
3 because I have all my syns every day
4 i am eating too much/ too little
please don't see this as a whinge, I don't mean it to be.
are there any others out there struggling like me??
Hiya! Just thought I'd say hello as I spotted your post and it reminded me of myself, except I'm not on SW. But I am an older woman who's been trying to lose weight for over 30 years, lol. It's just taken me 2.5 years to lose 10 stone, so I know how it feels for losses to be slow and steady, but that really is the best method - it's far more likely to stay off that way. So just keep ploughing on, all those individual pounds soon add up! xx
1lb a week is 52lbs in a year. Which is 3 stone 10lbs. Which is a lot! I'm on my tablet so can't see your stats or anything but that would be a very healthy rate of losing and is more likely to stay off long term. I lost quite a bit early on because my diet was so poor before, but I seem to be struggling a bit now, a good week followed by a bad week.
Try to up your superfree, make sure you measure your healthy extras, get some 'body magic' in, maybe try success express for a couple of days a week. Also, you say you've been on diets for years, have you ever been able to eat so much delicious food and still lose weight? I'm guessing the answer is no. So just keep plugging away, its a marathon, not a sprint and to lose consistently is a great achievement!
Week 1-4 - Lost 12lbs
Week 5-8 - Lost 4lbs
Week 9-12 - Lost 5.5lbs
Week 13-16 - Lost 4.5lbs
Week 17-20 - Gained 1lb
Week 21-24 - Gained 6.5lbs
Week 25 - 28 - Lost 0.5lbs
I was struggling too, I had really good losses but started to either sts or lose 0.5lbs here and there. I decided to add more variety to my meals as I was eating the same things every week, I did this and lost 3lbs. Maybe it could be your body getting used to the same foods if you don't vary? xx

I'm a young woman who's been in a diet for ten years and I've been really struggling too - no losses for about a month despite following plan and exercising. All I can say really is just stick at it and as kally said maybe try and mix up your food? Whenever I'm having a rubbish day and I want to go on a rampage and eat a whole birthday cake I just think 'i can't fail on this plan, all I can do is give up' - So essentially in a long rambling way, plough on lady and you'll get there! xxx
What do you consider 'older' I'm 48 & been at target now for 3 or is it 4 years I don't know, but it took me just over 12 mths to get to target sometimes losing 1lb sometimes gaining 1lb but I did it and apart from the odd blip when I go on hols I've maintained. It's not easy, most of the time I eat/drink all my syns, I try and have a variety of foods so I never get board of eating the same thing. I don't excise every week but do go out walking regularly.

I don't think people are losing hue amounts week in week out. They may have a big loss one week but you don;t know what the circumstances are - it may be first week, or first week following on from a bad week or being off plan. I really do think that most people on here are doing exactly what you are and losing a pound or so a week but people don;t post about being happy to have lost a pound so it looks like everyone else is doing better. My losses average out at around a pound week and it annoys me so much that this is considered slow or somehow meaning that you;re doing something wrong
Im coming up to my 68th birthday next week so I can say I am old! I am struggling to maintain weight loss to stay on target as I eat the same food as I have done in the past 3 years & I am gaining weight so I need to find the formula to kickstart the body again!
it really is a life-long thing, isn't it, losing weight and keeping it off. I do think it gets harder as you get older, though. I heard a theory once, that it all goes back to when we lived in caves...as you got older you probably had no-one to hunt for food for you, so your body learned to hold on to every calorie you could eat!! Mind you, back then, they were old at 25!
i am certainly less active since finishing work, more time but less enthusiasm to exercise, ....keep going lad, you have helped so many others, I am really hoping you find your mojo again.
