Ive just bought a slow cooker and cooked spag bol in it. It was amazing. Im now a convert and hoping to do a beef stew today. Is it ok to add potatoes in at the start or should i leave them and have them on the side? What does everyone else do? Also whats the best lowest syn gravy to use? Tia

I always use parboiled potatoes and put them in at the beginning, they tend to take longer than anything else. I love the schwartz slow cooker chicken curry mix and its only 3.5 syns and it serves 4 so basically less than one syn per serving and its gorgeous.`

I'm just back on SW and have been wondering about recipes with my slow cooker - what do you put in with the curry mix

Hi, can I ask please how you did the bolognaise? Do you cook it as normal and then add it to the slow cooker to "stew" for a few hours? As I can't see how it would work just putting all the individual ingredients in and just leaving it. Would love to try it as I have heard it enhances the flavours. Thanks.

Thanks. Im too late reading this though and have bunged all in so hoping for the best although I cut them tiny.

With the spag bol, thats exactly what I done. Cooked all on hob, stew for a few hours in slow cooker and then transfer to pot at end to boil of the extra liquid. It was lovely.

Well I waited excitedly for my slow cooker chicken curry mix and ingredients from Asda and curry mix substituted for chicken provencal!

I tried it once without parboiling them and they were still a little hard, probably down to me messing with the temperature going from low to high though x

This has totally inspired me to crack the slow cooker out!! I've had mine for years and have never used it. Thanks!

thank you, will definitely give it a go if it makes it even nicer.

I tend to bung everything in and stir it together at the end if it needs it, which it usually doesn't. That's the beauty of a slow cooker, for the most part it comes together naturally over the course of several hours.

I had my slow cooker chicken supposed to curry last night - it was ok, bit watery and veg was mushy but flavour ok
