Feel like giving up...

Hi all,
Joined SW online 4 weeks ago today and happily weighing in on my scales every week. I started off at 14stone and have never eaten so much fruit and veg in my life, stuck to it 100% , I mean no point in doingit otherwise ..
Anyway my scales reading 13 stone 7 yesterday..brilliant half a stone loss I thought...untill a friend came round, weighed herself on my scales and said they were wrong as she said she had been weighed at the doctors and my ones showed she was less..she then put them on my patio and it came up with her correct weight...I stepped on them and it was 13 stone 11...!! Therefore my weight loss is 3 pounds in a month ....!
Im so sorry for thislong winded story but am soo depressed I cant begin to tell you !!
Just had a chocolate croissant and packet of minstrels to compensate...my mind is all overthe place
so wanted to pop on here for words of encouragement if anyone has any xxx

What you have to remember is that your initial weigh in would have been wrong too so you will have lost more than 3lbs unless you started weighing on the patio? x

Oh and I had a croissant with some malteser choc spread on it so dont worry, your day isn't ruined :)

First of all, take a deep breath and step away from the high syn goodies!!!

Where were your scales the first time that you got weighed?

As long as you leave them in the same place, your weight loss will be correct, even if the weight it shows is wrong. It doesn't matter if your scales read a starting weight of 2 st 6 lb or 27 st 3 lb, what you are really trying to measure is the difference that you have lost.

Keep going!!

PS. Even if the scales are correct and you have lost 3 lb and not 7 lb, that is still a loss of just under 1 lb per week!! Always remember 1 lb per week is 3 st 10 lbs per year!!!!

Don't listen to your friend. You could weigh yourself on ten sets of scales and get ten different results. The only ones that matter are the ones that you've been weighing on every week because they accurately reflect how much you have lost.

Like everyone above said - as long as the first time you weighed yourself and the other time they were in the same place it's the difference you're looking at. All scales will be different, I work in a GP practice and those are slightly different to the ones at SW - so stop stressing! Just make sure you always keep them in the same place.

Why don't you try doing some body measurements too? It'll be fun to see inches lost as well as weight, and it'll help keep you on track when you are doubting your scales!

We've all been there when we feel fed up, can't be arsed, just want to eat chocolate - and nothing we can say can get you out of that frame of mind; it has to come from you. Get looking online at clothes you'd like to buy once you lose more weight, look at some sw recipes to try for the week, make a list of reasons you really want to lose weight. Remind yourself why you started in the first place. :)

Well done on your amazing losses, don't be disheartened!!

Thankyou to you all for your replies, what a comfort it is to read such reassuring comments ♡♡
Drawing a line under today, menu planned and shopping list wrote out for the week !!
Hate feeling sorry for myself...so onwards and upwards !!... (not meaning my weight obviously )
Youre all great on here, wish I could put those little smiley faces in but dont know how .lol..
Xxx

stick your scales back where they were.

people above are right, it will reflect your loss regardless of where they are.

im pretty sure if you had weighed in on the patio originally it would still show a 7lbs loss.

keep it up, you are doing a sterling job!!!

You made me smile - I just imagined you going out on your patio in the snow and ice nekkid as the day you were born, just to get a different number to show up on your scales!!!

Chin up kiddo, you're doing great :)

So glad I'm not the only technophobe, who doesn't know how to add 'illustrations'! Seriously though, buttonpops, everyone above is right! Sounds like you're doing a perfectly good job - planning, fruit, veg, Synned treats, etc. Come on here, whenever you feel down (and even when you don't!) and everyone will cheer you up, offer advice and friendship and give you lots of encouragement and ideas. Good luck. :)

Kathy xx

I got a bit paranoid and actually bought a second set of scales then thought "I weigh myself in the same place, in the same clothes and my weight is going down" - you've been doing it right and I bet your friends just jealous cause your doing so well :p
