Just started at SW on the 25/03/15 and I'm probably gonna be around these threads a lot in the coming weeks so I thought I'd write a lil back story to let you guys get to know me a little. ( sorry if I bore you)

My weight gain started on June 4th 2013, when I had a crash on my motorbike and shattered a knee cap, I'd never been small but really gained after this, 2 years of more or less inactivity will do that to you I guess, well now I'm hoping all operations are behind me now and they are really starting to up my physio sessions o thought I would give this losing weight a kick start by joining my local SW group.

Entering the group, for the first time was pretty daunting, I was expecting there to be about maybe 5 - 10 people maybe, oh no, there was 98!!! So here's me the only man all of a sudden feeling really self conscious (even more than usual) but wow everyone was fantastic and really made me feel at home.

So ive been doing this since Wednesday and so far really enjoying the food I'm eating, actually really surprised at how much im allowed to eat. I've been trying as best I can to follow the EESP route this first week and I think I've been doing it ok. This site really helping with ideas and the like and the stories on here are so inspirational.

anyway I'm bored now so you guys must be snoring too lol Hopefully talk to you more over the coming weeks and months.

Thank You in advance for all the help I know I'm gonna get here

Mick :)

Hello to another Northerner :)

I'm not a very prolific poster - more of a silent watcher but hopefully you will find everything you need to succeed on here, I certainly have!

98!!!!! That's a stupidly big group

Hi Bueliner,
Yea is a huge group to be fair most just got weighed and left the was about 40+ for the whole group meeting. I was told that the group that follows on straight after mine has a lot less people and a few men in it but I was pretty happy with my group once I stopped panicking lol

Good Luck with your weight loss

Welcome to the forum, have you started a food diary on here?

Hi Michelle and thank you,
I have been keeping one just not on here, if I get 10 mins spare later today I will transfer it over to here and let you guys see if I'm doing things ok or if im making some beginners mistakes which im sure I have.

Welcome to the forums and good luck on your journey.:D

Thanks Kay, im excited for the journey ahead to be honest, know there will be tough days but ill get through them, I got this ;)

A big welcome, Mick! Sounds like you've really been through the mill, with the accident and everything but, hopefully, everything will be on the up from now on - well, obviously not the weight!!!

Must admit, I love Minis. It's great for advice, ideas and just for having a good old chat. Hope you enjoy it too and, good luck with your weight loss.

Kathy

Feel free to join in with all the different conversations going on around the place, everyone is so welcoming :)

Hi Mick,

I've noticed a few of your posts popping up. I hope you are getting on okay.

I love SW. Its such a great plan, easy to stick to and I feel really well and full of energy from eating healthily and drinking lots of water.

There are a couple of other guys on here for you to make friends with so it's not all just us girls. There are two men in my group and one in particular has been doing really well.

Hi Jules, yea im actually really enjoying SW, think ive eaten better in the last 2 weeks than I have for years and all healthy :) im in the middle of rehab to so doing on average 2 hours of exercise each day so that is helping with this whole journey.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment :)

Hi again Mick :)

my weight gain rocketed when I severely damaged my left knee in a car accident and could no longer exercise; luckily my knee cap survived, just dislocated but I did a fair bit of damage inside lol. Now it's as good as it will ever be without a knee replacement! So I do rebounding (exercise on a mini trampoline) and swimming as both give me a good work out while being low impact for my knee. So far so good :)

Good luck!

Hi Clair, sorry to hear bout your knee but glad your getting the best out of it. at the moment all im allowed to do is pedal hopefully that will change end of this month when back to see surgeon. Im hoping getting at least a couple of stone off can only help my knee. whats left of knee cap is about the size of a 2p piece but like you its as good as its gonna get till full knee replacement some time in the future

Your weight loss will definitely help your knee. I get a lot less pain and stiffness now, and as you get lighter and you strengthen it you should be able to do more :)
