Hi Everyone!
I'm new to this forum and have recently started doing Slimming World at home. I'm having my second weigh-in tomorrow and am hoping for another loss after losing 3 lbs in my first week! I'm really enjoying planning my meals and being able to eat lots of the things I like :)
The only thing I'm having a bit of trouble with is thinking of new ideas for meals; the website has lots of good ideas, but most of the things seem quite complicated to make from scratch and use lots of ingredients... does anyone have any tips for quick and easy meals, or maybe there are some dry packets/sauces that I can add to meat and veg which are low in syns?
Any advice would be appreciated!
Also, do you have to use your full allowance of A and B items every day? I have been making, for example, a pasta bake using my daily allowance of cheese, but then saving half for the next day... Should I be using double the amount I'm allowed?
Thanks everyone, I hope you're all feeling motivated for the new week :)

Hello,

I don't always use my full hex a but then I dont have a great relationship to dairy! I do though try to have my hex b every day even just to ensure I'm having enough fibre.

In terms of meals, I struggle to cook from scratch every day as I work full time doing shifts and have two toddlers. I end up having omelettes or egg muffins on days when I cant be bothered to cook. Alot of folk batch cook so if you have a free day then it is maybe worth batching cooking 2/3 meals and freezing for later in the week. Rice based dishes are good including chicken or special fried rice. The SW Sticky Chicken is delicious and has few ingredients. If you have a slow cooker then it can be a god send for days when have little time x

Welcome Nat, I've just joined SW today after successfully losing 4st and regaining most of it within the last year. Good luck on your journey!

Thanks Emma, you too - well done for re-joining! Let me know how you find your first week :)
Are you going to a class, or just following the plan online? x

I joined a class tonight. Think I need somebody else weighing me every week to keep me motivated!

welcome nat :)

As Nemesis suggested, I batch cook and freeze a lot so I'm not having to cook from scratch all the time, it's a lifesaver when I'm manic, I don't have to cook anything because I always have something healthy and on-plan in the freezer.

You should try and have your HEA and HEB every day, if you cut back too much you may find your weight loss slows. Strange but true :)

Hi everyone I'm new to this site so will probs post wrong lol. I am doing slimming world at home have gone to a few classes over the years but weight got a bit out of control since I stopped smoking 2 years ago..... Anyhoo I'm just tryin to get my head around all the new EE stuff. The biggest prob is I keep eating stuff that is synned more than I remember it, I know they change the values for branded foods sometimes. And I remember a book that slimming world use to publish with branded foods in and there syn value. Does anybody know if they still make these and if so what are they called???

Welcome charley :)

you can pick up the latest SW books on ebay, but it might be worth you joining a group for one or two sessions only to get the most up to date literature and the new joiners talk

Hello :wavey:

I'm a newbie to this site but have been following, or attempting to follow, Slimming World at home. My housemate kindly supplied me with one of her books :)

I too struggle to think of things to cook as I work shifts and only cook for myself. I have to fight for freezer space as it is so batch cooking isn't really an option for me. At work I mainly eat meat with salad and at home fish with some veg.

I always keep Alpen Light bars in my handbag or at the office to make sure I am attempting to get my healthy extra B choice and I think I drink enough tea throughout the day to ensure I get my A choice. Personally I find it I have bread instead I just want to eat more and more so it's just easier to not bother.

Yes, I often make pasta bake type things knowing that I will have half the next day, and I use two Hex A's of cheese.

Hi all and welcome newbies :)

i often do a stir fry if I want something quick with either salmon, steak or chicken so it's not always the same. You can have dried egg noodles free on EE which is nice and I usually use 1-2 tbs sweet chilli sauce for 2syns. Also really quick pasta dish I do bacon(fat removed)onions, mushrooms and plum tomatoes cooked in fry light then add in low fat natural yoghurt when cooked to make a sort of creamy sauce and serve with quick cook spaghetti....takes 10mins and is so nice my husband always says he can't believe its free.

hope that helps :)

welcome Lberry :)

like many others I often cook a bit extra for my evening meal and then have it for lunch the next day, even if it's just some leftover pasta or rice I can then chuck some sliced ham or chicken and some salad with :)

I also sometimes at the weekend cook a big tub of soup (chicken, sweetcorn and noodle planned this weekend!), keep it the fridge and that keeps me going for work lunches through the week

Welcome Newbies! This site is great for advice, motivation and support :)

I generally make a double sized dinner then have the same for lunch the next day - saves time and energy that way! I make things like pasta, jacket potato, sausage mash & veg, risotto, lasagne etc. I do also freeze portions which helps when you come home and can't be bothered. The SW ready meals are also good for that.

I try to have my full HeA and HeB as I love cheese! But as long as you are getting some calcium I'm sure thats fine
