Original New to this and Slimming World...

Hi everyone, I lost a stone between January and April using diet shakes, but I realised I was feeling miserable not eating and it was a long drawn out process. I decided to join Slimming World and have my second weigh since joining tomorrow! I absolutely love cooking and haven't stopped eating for 3 weeks now, and still managed to lose almost half of what I did on the shakes in a fraction of the time.

Anyone have any tips? Success stories?

I had a 100% week the first week, I didn't have more than 7 syns a day until recently and the first time I went off plan was yesterday as I was celebrating the end to my first year of uni and had cocktails and nibbles with the girls! I go to the gym 3 times a week so don't really do the 'body magic' they advise as I feel better being more active. Hopefully my slip up yesterday won't affect me getting my half stone award tomorrow! :D

Unfortunately my privileges are limited on this site as I'm a new member so looking to add more to increase my posting rights and finally get a profile picture:confused:

Hi I did two days of diet shakes an blaghhhhh I was thirsty an very spaced out you will enjoy s/w my advice is plan if you plan an have your meals set you no what's happening an what you need an can get it all in advance as for the blips who doesn't have them just get straight back on track the day after you sound very active already so you should lose what you want in no time def have a look through the recipes it's always good to have new ideas so you don't get board good luck

Welcome to the forum, will you be starting a food diary on here?

If you want to up your posts try playing a few games, or check out the food diaries & sub to a few of those, that will also give you ideas about foods.

Hi daniii, welcome :)

SW is SO much better than diet shakes! You can eat, and have a life, and still lose weight :) I eat out socially usually once and often twice a week and I can accommodate that by making the right choices and still stay on plan, I absolutely love it. It is truly healthy eating skills for life, not just a diet. I've lost over 5 stone now.

Tips wise I would say:
- drink lots of water
- always fill your plate with 1/3 superfree
- always keep a food diary, even when you know the plan. You'd be surprised how effective it is as a tool to keep you on track
- use your syns - you don't have to use all of them, 7-9 a day seems to work for me, but a lot of people (including me) find their losses slow down if they don't use them at all. strange but true :)

good luck!

Hi daniii and welcome to Mini's. I love SW and have definitely re-discovered my love of cooking since joining. There's so much help and advice on here, you can't go far wrong. As Michelle said, play some games and you'll soon up your posts. Finding Mini's has been the biggest contributory factor to me staying on SW. That and the fact it is so versatile. Good luck.

Kathy :welcome:
