Hi folks,

Today is the day I start. Today is the day which will mark a massive change in my life. I know it will be hard, and I know I will be tempted to throw in the towel more than once but I will not stop.

I'm 27 and at 13st3lb I'm actually physically feeling how much pressure the extra weight is putting on me. I'm out of breath often after very little exertion, my clothes do not fit, I have ZERO self confidence, my skin is in awful shape with all the nasty junk I've been shoving into my gob daily and I just generally lack energy!

I can cook, in fact, I LOVE to cook. If any of you lovely ladies or gentlemen would like to help a newbie out with some sure fire SW friendly recipes and perhaps even a list of what you feel are shopping list must haves I would be eternally grateful!

Good luck everyone!

Hi and welcome :wavey:

there are soooo many recipes you are better to google, check specific recipe threads here or buy some SW recipe books to be honest. The slimming world website has loads too. I love your honesty I think you are halfway there just by accepting how you really feel about yourself.

Know exactly what you mean about the physical side. I started walking a few weeks ago and can't believe how much better I felt for it...first time I did just over a mile, felt sick and like I was going to fall over :) in just a few weeks I can now comfortably walk 4miles at a really good pace which is almost twice as quick as when I started. It's great to feel your fitness improve so I would recommend it even if you start just 5mins each way at whatever pace you think is right for you. I track it to see my progress too which makes me want to go a little further each time.

good luck you can do it and look forward to following your journey

xx

Welcome, rgoody and so glad you found Mini's. It's such a brilliant group, full of friendly people, all ready to help out. I'm sure it won't be long before you start to feel better about yourself.

Re the question about SW recipes, the magazine is really good and, on here, there's a thread called Pete's Recipes, which is great and (not trying to push it) I also do a thread, where I post recipes with 10 or less ingredients. Useless with technology so I can't add a link for Pete's but for my thread, you just click on the blue writing below my name, on here. Pete's thread is illustrated but, I'm afraid, mine isn't (again, because I'm useless with technology!).

I wish you all lots of luck. :)

There is loads of online advice about improving your skin. I have had some really good advice from this website:

Sali Hughes Beauty Forum (Sali Hughes is the beauty correspondent of the Guardian) and also Caroline Hirons' blog at

Caroline Hirons - have a look at her "Cheat Sheets" (scroll down a bit and they are on the right hand side of the screen).

Not everything recommended is expensive and reading through these websites has made me look at skincare quite differently and has absolutely transformed my skin.

And it gives me something to think about other than food!!

That Caroline Hirons site is wonderful -thanks for sharing the link.

welcome to SW, and welcome to mini's rgoody :)

this is a great place for support and advice on your journey, and yes we all want to throw in the towel sometimes! It's mini's that keeps me on track more often than not tbh :)

good luck! :)

Hi
I have been back on SW for about 16 weeks and one of my favourite things about it is I can google any recipe and just tweak it to be syn free or SW friendly :) If you get bored of SW recipes just try that! My favourite recipes tho have to be Fanta chicken, diet coke chicken and Fanta lemon chicken, using the Fanta zeros obviously, so good tho! and very simple! Have fun!
