Hey,

I went to my first slimming world meeting last night and i'm already feeling really uninspired. I know the results produced from SW can be amazing and i was excited to start, but after reading through the book i'm at a loss.

I am a fussy eater.

When i say that, i mean it. I am so fussy that half of the free foods and all of the lunchtime receipes i have seen online make me less motivated. I have a really carb-filled diet as it is and am lacking motivation to start because i have already set myself up to fail.

I need some help guys! :(

Thanks!

Hi there...what exactly don't you like?

Maybe the old red and green days will be better for you? Maybe you'll be able to find the old books on ebay?

What is it you don't eat? Im fairly fussy - i wont touch seafood of any kind and dont eat any fruit either and similar to u im a carb monster but i lost 2.5st in 8 months to hit target and have been there for 18months.
The beauty of SW is you CAN eat carbs until you are full (thats the key -not eating because you can have it but because you are hungry) you just need to find recipes you do like or adapt to your tastes. There are thousands of ideas on the SW site and on here so im sure with a bit of planning you could find plenty you enjoy?

You don't have to be "motivated" (how I hate that word!!). You just need to focus on what you can do rather than what you can't.

You say you don't like half the free foods listed. Presumably that means you like the other half? So start with those.

I don't usually like many SW recipes or meal ideas, but so what? I make up my own.

No-one is forcing you to eat things you don't like (although it's always worth trying new things, you never know).

It has been less than 24 hours and you have already told yourself that you are going to fail. Why not try telling yourself that this works for thousands and thousands of people, many of whom will be "fussy eaters", so there is no reason why it shouldn't work for you.

I'm all with you on that one! Sw is probably the best eating plan for fussy eaters!

I agree with the above ^

Perhaps start with writing down the foods you do like....put a positive spin on it rather than a negative one. What sort of foods/meals do you eat now? Can you adapt them to be SW friendly? If you like carbs, no problem....you can have them!

The beauty of SW is that you use the plan to suit yourself....there is no set plan to follow.

May be tell us what sort of things you like and we can make some suggestions.

Blimey, I sometimes I wish I was more fussy with food rather than eating anything and everything known man!!!

I'm quite a fussy eater too. I really don't like fruit (think this is a psychological thing though) and I can't stand fish and I really only eat chicken, bacon and very occasionally beef. However I really like certain veggies. Everything I eat has spinach, broccoli, mushrooms and asparagus. That's ok, as long as you don't get bored eating the same things. What do you like and maybe I can help think of some recipes I've made in the past :)
