Slimming world and healthy fats

Dietninja

Mostly plant based
Hi - am here looking for advice.

I love the idea of slimming world and have tried it before with some success. But, I got frustrated with the whole muller lights are free but avocado is synned thing.

I would rather swap carbs for healthy fats like avocado, nuts (in small quantities), extra virgin olive oil etc.

I don't want carbs at every meal but I do want healthy fats at most meals.

And 35g oats doesn't fill me up. Whilst I can understand limiting processed cereals, I don't think an extra 15g of oats will kill me! And would be so much healthier for me than alpen lights.

Now I know I could syn all these things, but I find that very limiting.

Does anyone have a solution to this? Other than stick to calorie counting?

No solution really, as you say apart from using your syns for the things you really want. I often have 50g of oats and use 3 syns for the extra. To me, its well worth it because I don't need to save my syns for 'treats' like some people like to. I am happy to use them on real food. You don't have to have carbs at every meal if you don't want to! You can just stick to protein and veg. Its quite adaptable like that. Olive oil is a HE B option and so are some nuts.
It is do-able if you plan.
I would love to eat all the 'best' foods from lots of different plans but its not as easy as that. Every diet works but they all have their limitations, unfortunately, it seems we can't have our cake and eat it!
If you find it too limiting then maybe its not the plan for you...

Sorry no solution for you either - in my experience slimming world only works if you follow the plan. Perhaps something like Paleo would work better for you. Just wanted to say that olive oil is no longer a HexB. Sorry!

Opps....yes, sorry for the misleading 'oil is a HE B' I still follow the red and green plans!
To be honest, I think I would still have it anyway as we do need fat in our diets....crazy they took it away!

If I do SW again I may go back to red as I don't need much in the way of carbs but I do want healthy fats, so 2 b choices would be great.

So I rejoined tonight. I'm going to play it by ear...giving it three weeks then will review!

I also think the exclusion of all healthy fats isn't the healthiest way to go. I must admit I use my Syns for them instead of fry light. I'm a complete foodie and I just can't do it. Iv tried the a few nuts and oil won't hurt because there healthy and it didn't work out at all. In fact I went way off track and am only now getting bk on the wagon. You really do have to stick to it.

Hi I saw in the new magazine olive oil sprays an extra virgin an I think it was 5 sprays for half a syn

I saw that too, and I've bought some. Also there are some healthy fats that sneak in...eggs spring to mind :) and salmon - I'm having roast salmon & roasted veg with feta on top as my hexa tonight :)
