Reply from weetabix re: Alpen lights

I just received an email from weetabix regarding my 'complaint' that they have reduced the alpen light boxes by one bar but have not changed the price. This is the response:
Many thanks for your enquiry, though we were sorry to hear of the problem you have encountered.

We do not control, nor even influence, the selling prices of our breakfast cereals or cereal bars. What we all pay is down to the individual retailer though we do, of course, monitor prices for our information.

Some outlets may indeed charge more (or perhaps less!) than others depending on their individual circumstances. It really is they who set the prices and, as with many things, these will vary from place to place.

Hope this helps and thank you again for taking the time to contact us.
Yours sincerely,

Anyone else had a pointless reply?

i see they did not explain why they dropped the number of bars in a box by one.

My local Tesco is selling the 'new box size' Alpen lights at £1.62. It works out to 2p per bar more expensive than the apple and sultana ones, which I think it was roughly anyway.

It looks like it's a case of keeping an eye on the different supermarkets x

Asda are still selling the boxes of 6, but their flavours are limited. Cant remember price though.

OMG i didn't realise that they had reduced the bars in the box, how annoying!
