Agave syrup

Yay! I use it in place of sugar in dessert recipes. It's worked in everything I've used it in so far, though they've all been recipes where I've previously tried splenda and it's worked. It was great in a baked cheesecake.

It's good anywhere where you might use syrup or honey too, e.g. on yoghurt as a sweetener, in a drink or in a salad dressing.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi Maynie, yes I have this. I read about it ages ago as an alternative to sugar or maple syrup. It's very sweet, but completely natural and it's lovely. I'd prefer it to splenda because of the naturalness. Presumably no good on phase 1 though?

Yeah, not sure where mine was from. I'm lucky that I have the most amazing health food shop near where I work. I used to be in it every lunch time. They even do the equivilent of SBD fast food! A local company makes wholewheat spicy veg and bean flan and things like that.

is this allowed on sb i have done sb before and i am beginning again but i do not remember seeing it allowed

Hi Eileen, how are you getting on? From what I've gathered on the official SBD forums, agave is allowed in moderation as part of the sweet treats allowance. I prefer Sweet Freedom though which is another all natural syrup you can buy in Tesco (maybe other shops too) as I believe it's lower GI. :)
