Little to lose/SB Phase 1 worth it?

Hi all,

want to lose around 5kgs as soon as possible. I've been working out (cardio + weights) and cutting cals/eating healthier but weight loss has stalled.

Going backpacking around the world for a yr in about a months time and would love to get rid of those last 5 kgs (10lbs) - would you recommend South Beach to someone who doesn't have a huge amount to lose?

Appreciate answers/insight
 
The book says phase 1 is the starting point for those who have at least 10 lb to lose so I'd say go for it. :)
