I've been have a weird diet going for a bit over a month now.. I like to drink and I didn't want to stop that, so I started eating once a day.. and walking a lot. If I'm at home, I'd walk around or dance rather than sit down.. I've lost 4kg in this time which I'm very happy with.

I don't really have the money to be watching what I'm eating so I usually go for any sort of really cheap takeaway or restaurant with a deal, eat till I'm happy and leave the rest.. and with drinking wine or cider, I'm kinda eyeballing the right amount of calories per day in a way.

But recently, that's not working so well.. last Tuesday I had a steak meal quite late, woke up the next day and weight went up.. so that day I only ate some crisps, and the next day I was nearly 2kg down.. but then had a lot of spaghetti, and once again it went up completely.. yesterday I had much less spaghetti and it's down by a bit but don't really know what to make of everything.. :sigh:

I feel it shouldn't be fluctuating that much everyday and now I'm worried all that weight is just going to come back.. I don't really understand water retention or water loss or sodium or all that stuff.. anyone got any idea what might be happening here? or if the weight loss is good or not?

Weighing daily tells you literally nothing. Don't torture yourself with it.

As you said, sodium, water retention, hydration, hormones, toilet habits ... All make daily weight yoyo. I am a firm believer that a week is the shortest time that is acceptable between weigh ins. 2 weeks is better. Measuring yourself is better still.

Maybe that's true.. I find it hard to keep myself motivated when I'm not seeing the difference for a whole week though..
