I have lost a third of my body weight!

Treefrog

slimmer...
Hey folks,

I posted on here for a while a few years ago. I weighed 120kg and was on LL for about three weeks, before moving to CD and then going it alone after my partner broke up. That was all back in 2007 and I didn't post since. I remembered this site because it wished me happy birthday this morning, and I thought I'd come on and give a little update.

I know weigh in at 79kg, and the weight is continually (though slowly) going down. I've lost over 40kg, gone from BMI 39 to 27, and am a size 12 where before I was a 22. I now play roller derby, kickbox, go to the gym every day, don't drink, eat a vegetarian diet, and feel AMAZING. (I also live in New Zealand, not Hertfordshire). I've run a few 5k's, climbed Tongariro, and am fitter and healthier than I have ever been. I even wear hotpants in public and feel good about it!

It's been an amazing journey, one I'm still on, and it's not always been easy. I've had to change my entire lifestyle and be aware of when I've slipped back into old habits (buffets are my enemy), but it CAN be done, and I hope everyone on here gets where they really want and need to be.

What a lovely story. You've really changed your life completely - that's awesome. Well done! :D

Awesome story! I really want to try Roller Derby but I have dodgy knees - hoping that when I lose some weight they will be able to hack it!
Congrats on your amazing loss Treefrog :)

Thank you so much everyone :) It has been a total turnaround in diet, attitude and self-esteem. It's been hard sometimes, I went from picking up a chocolate bar without thinking at the checkout, to thinking about it then picking it up anyway and feeling bad, to picking it up, holding it for ages, putting it back down and then thinking about the missed opportunity for chocolate for hours. Now it doesn't get picked up at all, and if it does then it's eaten and enjoyed as a special treat. It's taken four years to get to that point, but I got there!

CG- I used to have really bad knees too, and now they rarely, if ever, give me any trouble since I lost the weight. Start rollerskating anyway, it's really good for fitness and it's low impact so should be OK on your knees :)

That's awesome to hear that your knees don't give you problems anymore :) that gives me extra inspo to get lighter!
I really want to give skating a go - even just regular & not Derby - i can't even kneel let alone fall at the mo ;)
Thanks 4 the info :)

OMG! Wonderful pictures! I wish I can also post my before and after pictures someday. For now, all I have are before pictures and I am still in denial that I am in this stage of weight. Did you use any weight watchers or diet pills/shake/program?

Carrie, just go to your local rink, strap some skates on and go for it! We have a couple of girls training with us who are larger, and they are getting a lot out of it in terms of exercise that's FUN!

And thank you D2BS, I kickstarted my weightloss with the Cambridge diet, but after a couple of weeks (and with the breakdown of my relationship with my ex-partner) I came off it and went solo. I discovered that having a few weeks on such a strict diet was enough to make me realise just how much I had been eating before, and what was now a "sensible" amount to eat. It's taken me a long time this way (four years from CD to now) but there's been no yo-yoing, no binge/diet cycle, just an understanding that I had to change my mindset towards food! I wish you the best of luck on your journey, if you can change your attitude to food you WILL do it! :)

Can't see the pics, but love your success storie, you got your life back :)
Well done

Great stuff, well done I can't believe I missed these. :D you look fantastic
