I was just wondering if anyone can give me some inspiration for Saturday Night Snacks? I love a night on the Sofa with XFactor etc but I am a picker. What kinds of things do you pick on of an evening? I need some inspiration!

Thanks x

Onion bhaji? Veg pakoras? SW mini quiche? Quark dip with veg/ crab stick crudities? Sliced fruit. I just chop up and apple and pear myself ;) but there's many things you can make to nibble. It's just finding the recipes you fancy and being organised :)

popcorn get a microwavable bowl pour in some popcorn kernals (a handful or so) cover with a plate and microwave for 3 minute (air popped popcorn with no butter or oil popped is 1.5syns per 30g) i spray mine with fry light and put on sweetener and cinamon you can also do savoury like garlic powder with paprika. or S.W chips or rice pudding squares. 85g of pudding rice with 350ml of SUGAR FREE (free) ceam soda cook that down with a splash of vanilla, stir in a few berries (optional) you can have it hot but i like putting it into a cling film lined tray, spreading it out letting it set i the fridge then cutting it up :)

How about Quark mixed with sweetener and a few drops of vanilla extract, it tastes like lovely thick cream with frozen berries stirred through and then either eaten straight away like ice cream or leave to thaw and it's like a berry Eton Mess - gorgeous!

oooh must try sweet quark - i eat loads savoury - but never thought of the sweetner and vanilla extract - thanks

My favourite snacks are fromage frais mixed with sweetner and a sachet of options it makes a Yummy chocolate dessert. Or I, also whisk an egg white add sweetner and then cooled sugarfree jelly. It makes a delicious mousse with a jelly base. I sometimes sprinkle a crushed funsize crunchie over both of the above desserts when I want a little extra.

Would also love to hear some more savoury snack suggestions.

Well I had Sunday night snacks ;) whilst watching the X-Factor results last night.

I had a popping candy freddo (4.5) and 7 x fizzy bubblegum bottles (7). It felt like such a treat!

I'm going to have the same tonight whilst watching the soaps. I'll still have a B choice left so will be having a HiFi bar, and also my two little advent chocolates (1.5). That's if I can eat it all!

I am going to make soup as a snack so i can leave it in the fridge and warm a bit up whenever I am hungry!!
I always reach for the chocolates when I get peckish :(

Has anyone tried the slimming world ferrero rocher's?
They are lovely and at a fraction of the syns of normal ones!!!!

I love the fat free fromage frais mixed with me hexA of cheese THE cheesiest dip known to man. Or a SW hummous made with chick peas, garlic herbs and spices then blended together with a little lemon juice. Have either or both of these with veggie sticks, apple slices, grapes and a few pringles or tortilla crisps. I always make sure to weigh out my crisps rather than just guess.

I also like crunchy roasted chick peas. Drain and dry and tin of chick peas, pop them in a bowl spray with fry light coat with your choice of herbs and spices (lemon, garlic, salt and pepper, spicy cayenne, Jamaican jerk, its up to you!) then spread them out on a baking sheet and put in an oven about gas mark 5 for between 30-60 minutes (depending on your oven) They're free on SW and absolutely gorgeous, especially when still warm.

I use 1 weetabix to 1 tablespoon of nutella (I actually prefer morissons own brand choc spread) In a bowl add however many spoons of spread you want and heat it a little in the microwave so its easier to mix. Then crumble in however many weetabix you need and mix it all together. Spoon into little truffle size cases (you can get these in most superstores and pound shops) then pop in the fridge for as long as you can :) they don't set completely and get messy if theyre left out in a warm room for too long (which is why I put them in cases)

You can use scan bran, some recipes also add syrup but I don't think its necessary and it just adds syns

Hope this helps.x.x.

Thnaks for all these ideas. Snacking is where I really struggle so will do some planning and see where it gets me!

I really like veggie sticks with SW houmous or mackerel and horseradish dip and lots of pickles, onions, gherkins, mixed pickles - if I'm really hungry, I also include cold meats and hard boiled eggs - yummy - and no syns!

I make kebabs with a curry dip, all syn free and very tasty :)
I have these with cornichons (mini gherkins) pickled onions and cherry tomatoes for my SF

Kebabs = Turkey breast mince mixed with chilli powder and crushed chillies (make to your own heat preference) roll into small balls and skewer on a cocktail stick, bake at 180 for approx 15 mins (make sure it's thoroughly cooked)

Curry dip = tin of chickpea dahl blitzed

SW hummous made with chick peas, garlic herbs and spices then blended together with a little lemon juice.

Excellent timing, I was going to look for a hummous recipe today xx
