Gravy

I love chicken dinners and have made the chicken and veg pie using mash potato instead of pastry but I need a gravy. What is the lowest syn gravy or can I make my own low syn gravy.
Thanks in advance x

Bisto best is nice and it works out at 2 syns per serving.

There is syn free gracy recipe i've tried. From memory you just dissolve a beef stock cube/stock pot in half a cup of water and thicken to gravy-like consitency with smash. I wasn't keen TBH. But some people at my group like it so maybe worth a try?

Smash is free so it doesn't matter if you are using it as a gravy thickener, it wouldn't have to be synned.....well, according to my group leader anyway.
I have done this with my gravy but have to admit that it only 'does the job' it certainly doesn't have me jumping for gravy based joy.

Something that does work for me is making gravy with an oxo cube and then putting some of my superfree veg into the gravy, wizzing is up with a hand blender and using that as a thicker gravy. Much tastier, if you can stand the tiny bits. It works really well to do that if you are slow cooking anything, as I find the slow cooker leaves everything really watery so wizzing some of the vegies really helps make a proper stewey gravy.

I have tried the smash as a thickener and have to say that I think I would reather use a couple of Syns!!

You do need to syn smash when it's being used as a flour substitute, even though it's 'free' when eaten as smash. It counts as a tweak.

If I am doing mince for one I put in oxo cubes, then tomato puree. Let it cook for a while and it will be thicker

If I am doing chicken - again for one - I use tesco chicken gravy grans and then put some cabbage or veg water on it. Not too much. I usually use 2 tsp which is 2 syns. Just enough for 1.

If say onion gravy I use 1-2 oxo cubes then 1tsp or 5g of bisto powder. 1syn Then let it cooked down a bit.
