Mashed vegetables?

Hi,

I know if you mash up fruit you have to add some syns because of sugars or something.

Does the same count for vegetables? I'm thinking of having Carrot & Swede mash tonight but not sure if I should syn it

thats a very interesting question! i have carrot and swede mash all the time! never thought it might be syns like mashing fruit is! eeek xxx

I#m worried too, although, i'm thinking it would be ok, seeing as with alot of soups you can blend them so wouldn't this just be the same?!

Well.....

I just went on syns calculator. Im not making my own i'll be buying it from Morrions, found this

M Kitchen Carrot & Swede Mash, 500g pack, chilled, 250g serving javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$ctl0...1$GridView_Products$ctl02$LBADDExtraEasy','')2½ on EE

I think thats alright for a full pack considering it will do me two nights so I think i'll go for it.

Still would like to know about homemade though?!

Cheers for that, I am now nearly sure that homemade has no syns.
Im thinking that shop brought will probably be mashed with either oil, butter or milk and thats why its got a syn value.
But like you it would still be nice to know.

you can blend veggies- i blend my veggie soup all the time.

It's probably because fruit is higher in sugar (and calories) so will be worse for you....veggies have next to nothing in them

so fear not! blend/mash your veggies!

Yeah I probs should! but to be honest for 2.5 syns for the whole thing i'm not too bothered! Easy Friday night tea with steamed veg & Sausages

corrrr thank you! had me worried! i love carrot and sweede mash - always do make my own though because the ready made ones have all got butter in to make them a bit creamier. i dont use my A option as i dont like hot drinks or cereal so i add a dash of milk in mine to make it a bit creamier xxx
