Ok I am a little confused! I bought a packet of mushroom risotto rice today and thought I would check the syn value to my surprise it came back as 3 1/2 syns which I found weird as upon checking the nutritional information it has less fat, calories, carbohydrates etc than my usual batchelors chinese rice which is free. I simply don't get it

What is it and what are the NV's?

Hi Ermintrude :).
It is Mushroom Savoury Risotto Rice.
Nutritional Info (Per 100g Prepared)
Cals 109
Protein 3.1
Carbs 22.2
Fat 0.6

Mm Im still a bit in the dark here. What product is it, exactly? (ie brand name and product name, exactly)?

And how exactly are you entering the figures? Thats says "per 100g prepared" so Im assuming that means when its actually got the water added (if it needs water)?

What type of rice are you adding as a free food? If I use "savoury pot" I get 1.5 syns per 100g cooked weight. If it's just normal dried rice it comes out as Free. If it's boiled rice it's half a syn. So it matters exactly what the product is to pick which rice as a free food.

How big is the pack/portion? I dont get 3.5 syns for any of them as 100g, so is that 3.5 syns for the whole pack?

Need a bit more info pouchie :)

Hi ermintrude, I got it from my local health food shop its called mushroom savoury risotto rice and its made by a company called TJ Morris Ltd (I have never seen it in supermarketd before). It looks like the batchelors savoury rice in a packet. From what you have said I think I may have entered the wrong type of rice as I put it as a snack pot (I don't know if this is right). Oh and yeah looks like loads in the packet it says add 700 mls of water so can only imagine that will make a lot. Thankyou for your help x

Mm I think its probably because the values given are for the "prepared" amount ie once water is added. I think "snack pot" rice is probably right but Id check with someone who eats the Batchelors sort of thing (I dont). I wouldnt have thought it comes under 'normal' dried rice but I might be wrong.

If it is snack pot rice and "prepared" means cooked weight then it's 1.5 syns per 100g cooked.
