Extra Easy: Syn free lunches to buy in Sainsbury's or elsewhere - HELP. :)

    Hi there,

I've signed up to SW online a couple of months ago but seem to have trouble sticking to it. I commute to work (5 hours each day) so it's very difficult for me to make a meeting. Problem is I think I'm failing as I don't really have the support.

I'm trying to be really good but my lunches are so so. What are easy things that I can buy that are syn free? I hope someone can help and give me some tips. I want to lose 2 stone overall and would love love love to achieve that.

    Thanks,
    Antonia

Sushi is great to pick up, and is between 1 and 3 syns for a box, so a good low syn lunch and available in most supermarkets There are a few syn free ones in Waitrose too.

The John West Light Lunches are quite low syn and useful to have in the car/desk drawer for emergency lunches as they don't need to be chilled, as are Bachelors Deli Boxes.

But my preferred option is to make something at the weekend that I can then take with me, e.g. soups (put in a flask to keep hot if no heating facilities at work), quiches, and other lifesavers such as the chickpea dahl loaf.

Hope that helps, good luck! x

I did sw online before I joined a group and also struggled, however it does work. Now I go to any meeting I can get to, I am a shift worker and do 12.5 hour shifts.

I agree with Nicola, I have deli boxes in my locker for emergencies, and batchelers low fat super noodles, some are syn free, the John west light lunches are nice too in an emergency !

though I also make myself soup or salad or both to take with me syn free though. Also when I make syn free dinners I can freeze I freeze a portion, which you can grab on the way out if your in a rush! (I you have a microwave at work)

    good luck !

The thing is if i start with syns I get confused. I'd prefer to have my main meals syn free and then have a snack to fill my syns as it makes it easier for me to count if that makes sense. Do soups you get at Pret or buy at the supermarket contain syns? What's the easiest way to work it out? Also you said you signed up to the online version but does that mean I can still go to meetings without paying extra? x

Most soups you can buy are either syns or a healthy extra (I don't know of any that are syn free but perhaps there are some). If you want to go syn free for your meals then the best way is to make things yourself and take them with you x

Mug shots are a tasty filler when you're wanting something warm...

I make salads to take to uni/placement - as many different veggies as I can squeeze in and some chicken cooked in frylight.

Also if you've got microwave facilities/fridge facilities then I definitely would make a big batch of the speedy soup or the mushy pea curry or any of the free meals that you can make in big batches - then freeze into single portioned Tupperware and you have a meal to grab to take with you.

This will sound boring but fruit salad?
