Pudding rice

Morning... Hope you're all well.

I'm a bit confused about pudding rice... I would make the rice pudding each week+have it for breakfast a few days a week served with fresh berries... I know it's syn free but just a wee bit confused how. I bought a 500g packet from tesco+yesterday looked at the nutritional value+it's 350kcal per 100g... I easily would use that amount when doing a batch cook that would last me a few days.

Maybe I shouldn't question or doubt myself but just find it hard to get my head around how something that's quite high in kcal counts as syn free... Any ideas? x

There's quite a lot of things like that - off the top of my head, things like pasta in sauces, even baked beans - don't worry about it and trust the plan :)

You have to remember that its not a calorie counting diet.

Slimming worlds formula is based around the foods ability to fill you up from the energy it contains. That's why things that may seem high in calories are free, its because for the calories you eat you are fuller for longer than other ways of eating the same calories.

So look at your rice, 350 Calories, but as you have said it lasts you a few days, so say you are eating 117 calories of rice each day (just as an estimate based on it lasting 3 days), you have that with berries. That actually makes for a low calorie breakfast, because combined its probably less than 200 calories, maybe 250 if you add some yogurt which i would :). Then think how filling the breakfast is, i know i feel a lot fuller if i have rice for breakfast than if i have anything else, because the rice will swell in your stomach and make you feel a lot fuller.

So not only is it a reasonable breakfast, but sticking to plan for the rest of the day is going to be easier because you are off to a great start in the morning. So with slimming world its the bigger picture, its foods ability to satisfy that's key.

Dunno why I started to doubt myself... That all makes perfect sense on reflection though, was def a weak moment!!! Thanks :) xxx
