Working out syn values

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone can help me on syn values. I have my directory so if I'm at home I can look up syn values, but was just wondering if their is a way you can work it out roughly if you're out and about? Or is it too complicated to calculate like that? xxx

Yay thanks - thats handy to know xxx

Excellent, at least I'll have a rough idea now. Thanks xx

So does this mean then that anything under 20 calories is classed as syn free ????

No - if it has 10 cals it is 1/2 a syn. i.e. Hartleys sugar free jelly tubs are around 7 cals each so they are 1/2 a syn, but most things under 20 cals are probably a free food. Do you have something in particular that is under 20 cals?

Thanks so much .. I was just trying to make sense of the syn value thing. I'm still quite new to it x

No worries! Slimming World takes a few weeks to get your head around...however as long as you persevere you will find it is the best lifestyle plan to follow as in time you rarely have to think about what you are eating, measuring every little thing or carrying multiple books around like other plans. For me, SW works because it's not asking you to give up anything and if you don't feel deprived, you are more likely to stick to it.

How long have you been doing it/how are you finding it? x

I've not been doing it that long at all really. Only just this last week. Its ok .. i've been eating fruit and greek yogurt for brekkie, jacket potato and a homemade pasta salad (chopped lettuce, cherry tomatoes, peppers and cuccumber mixed up in a small amount of light mayo) for lunch and I usually have whatever for tea as I cook for the family at tea time. But I always make sure i'm putting veg or salad on my plate to go with whatever i've cooked. I don't snack in between meals anyway and haven't felt the need to now still . so I don't think i'm using many syns a day if any lol. I know the light Mayo I have to syn .. I think its 1 and a half syns per 2 tablespoons I read somewhere. I usually use 3 tablespoons. So think i'm doing good haha! x
