Helloooo!
Back on SW after I regained the five stones that I previously lost on this weight-loss programme.

I love Costa Coffee and Cafe Nero (Chai Latte skinny especially).

It's probably already been said a million times but can anyone inform me of the syn values for such coffee houses using skimmed milk as a guidance for each size of drink whether small, medium and large.

I did read on here that one can subtract 6 syns if using your healthy extra.

Looking forward to losing the weight again, must dash as starting the 'Insanity' work-out DVD's soon sooooo watch this space!!

Thank you in advance for any useful information! ☕

Looking at Costa's website the Primo, Medio and Massimo (S,M,L) are as follows with skimmed milk - 207, 322 & 517 cals. The 1 syn for 20 cal rules applies and I believe you could use the milk as HEXA and deduct 6 syns (for what it's worth).

I absolutely adore chai latte but wouldn't touch it with a bargepole looking at that. I think I might have it as a treat every now and again. :D

As you put it like that I see precisely what you mean, lol!

Thank you!

It's my birthday in a few months time so I may treat myself then eh not every week as per usual lol!!

And think of what you will be saving - according to some information I found online a medium chai latte from Costa is £3.

If you had one a day, say five in a working week, that's £15. That's £780 a year!

Oh yes Anna, got the loyalty cards, costs even more at a motorway service station!!

I get the message, you are practical and I like that, lol!

Thank you!

The funny thing is - you'll probably enjoy it all the more for being a special treat!

I just can't believe that a large chai latte skinny is just short of 26 syns!!!

Skinny drink 26 syns???

Sorry, still in denial but thank you one and all for pointing me in the right direction.

I am staying focussed coffee or no coffee, lol!!

Yes, I suppose that you are right Patty!

I've noticed that you don't need to add sugar or sweeteners to the drink so it possibly is already loaded with sugar, mmm, thanks for that!

P.s Not that I add sugar to drinks anyway, lol!

Hi xmrdx,

I have just looked these up in the Food Directory from Slimming world for you.

It appears that the eat-in/takeaway volumes vary and impact on the Syn values.
To cover all bases for you, I am going to post both.

Eat-in Chai Latte (Skimmed Milk)

Primo - 7.5
Medio - 11.5
Massimo - 14.5

Take Away Chai Latte (Skimmed Milk)

Primo - 8.5
Medio - 12.0
Massimo - 15.5

That worried me, I used to get cappuccinos all of the time and the Syn values are even higher! :(

Perhaps it would be worth maybe getting a normal tea and adding our own milk and getting the Syn value for it or making it part of your HExA?

I have also found some nice herbal/fruit teas which are nice, have 0 syns and you can drink black if you were considering swapping things out. :)

Wow! Thanks everybody!

This was my first post on here and I'm really impressed with the feedback, you have all been really helpful.

No doubt that there will be loads more to say..........

I appreciate it, thank you!

Welcome on board and good luck with your journey. We all share the same goal, so we like to help where we can.

I suggest you start a food diary in the relevant section as you'll soon get a group of people to help you along and make suggestions/point out mistakes and generally support and befriend you. It's also useful to read a few diaries as well to get ideas for menus and new things to try and also learn how people cope with blips and so on.

Explore the threads - some of the 'stickies' hold very useful information.

I once worked with someone who came into work clutching a huge bucket of coffee, got another one at lunchtime, and often popped out mid-afternoon for another. One day she sat down with a calculator and worked out that she would be better off buying a really nice coffee machine for her office!

Most of these drinks as you're probably aware are made with flavoured syrups and these are loaded with calories, so despite having skimmed milk or sweeteners if you needed any more sweetness (which I don't think you do) you cannot escape I'm afraid.

I'm a big fan of chai - chai tea, chai latte, I just love it so I can see why xmrdx is addicted. I can recommend Twinings Chai teabags which I drink daily and are totally free. Whilst I admit you're not going to love it as much at the latte, it's not a bad drop at all and will tide you over until you get the Costa fix :D
