I live overseas and can't get frylite which is causing me a real pain. What would be the best oil to use instead? Before starting SW I was using coconut oil but I can't find any syn values for that (i have a dated list).

I couldn't find coconut oil on the SW website, this is the best I could do -

Basic, Oil, all types excluding extra virgin olive oil, 1 level tsp 2 2 2
Basic, Oil, all types excluding extra virgin olive oil, 1 level tbsp 6 6 6

If you say what country you live in there might be others from the area who could suggest a frylite substitute that's available locally for you.

For oils, as they don't have a free food allowance, 1 syn = 20 cals. I don't use coconut oil but how about a lighter olive oil or something similar?

Thanks, i live in Korea and getting hold of most stuff in the recipes is proving a challenge.

I am pretty sold on the health benefits of coconut oil (i usually never believe in the magic powers of certain foods but this one has me convinced) so I guess it will have to eat up a lot of my syns.

If you have to use oil for cooking try brushing it on the pan with a pastry brush rather than pouring - seems to go further

I use coconut oil. It's 2 sins for a teaspoon. I wouldn't give it up as it is good for you. Olive oil can be a HEXB so I think coconut oil should be too.

It is healthier for frying in as it is stable at high temps.
