Hi All Miniminers!

Many of you will have been following the tragic news that Mags lost her husband in an accident a few weeks ago. She and her little girl have the funeral to go through tomorrow, and last time she posted she asked us all to keep them in our thoughts on the day. I thought we could start a thread to do just that, so that when Mags is ready she and her daughter can read messages from her online community. So please, use this thread to post thoughts, however random, perhaps lines of poetry or songs, whatever you like to show Mags and her daughter some support.

Thinking of you Mags at this sad time. I hope you and your little daughter get through tomorrow. Just remember the good times and try to make tomorrow a celebration of your DHs life although it was cut short so cruelly.

Dear Mags

My prayers are with you and your daughter at this most sad time. The poem I have pasted below touched my heart when I first saw it and has never ceased to move me every time I see it.

Footprints in the Sand

by Mary Stevenson

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one
belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.

"Lord, You said that once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."

The Lord replied,
"My son, My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I Carried You."

May it bring you a little comfort...

Mags, all of our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad, sad time.

You may not be a Christian, and at a time like this it may be hard to believe that God exists, but as a Christian the well-known poem below was always a comfort to me, especially when my best friend died last year. I hope it will also prove a comfort to you too.

Footprints in the Sand - The Poem

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed

footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.

"I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:

"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,

It was then that I carried you."

My mum chose this to be read out at her own funeral. Its called Letter from heaven

To my dearest family, some things Id like to say,
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay,
Im writing this from heaven, here I dwell with god above,
Here, there`s no more tears of sadness, here is just eternal love,
Please do not be unhappy just because Im out of sight,
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night,
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and said "I welcome you,
Its good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone,
As for your dearest family, they`ll be here later on,
God gave me a list of things to do,
And foremost on the list was to watch and care for you,
And when you lie in bed at night, the days chores put to flight,
I am closest to you .....in the middle of the night,
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years,
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears,
BUT DO NOT BE AFRAID TO CRY, IT DOES RELIEVE THE PAIN,
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain,
I wish that I could tell you all that god had planned,
If I were to tell you, you wouldnt understand,

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over,
Im closer to you now, than I ever was before,
If you can help someone who`s in sorrow and in pain,
Then you can say at night, my day was not in vain,
Now that im contented that my life was worthwhile,
Knowing as i passed along the wayI made somebody smile,
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick her up as on your way you go,
When your walking down the street and youve got me on your mind,
Im walking in your footsteps only half a step behind,
And when its time for you to go...from that body to be free,

I have always felt this poem protrays words and images i cannot. Here goes

There are no words that can make this time better, I'm afraid. Just know that everyone here is thinking of you and your family at this terrible time.

I shall repeat something my Mum once said to me when I was hurting, "I wish I had a magic wand that could mend broken hearts, but I don't, so my prayers will have to do"

Because no matter what I write

I Need to Say Goodbye Although You're with Me

I need to say goodbye although you're with me.
I stand beside your grave, yet you are here.
I miss you terribly and hope you miss me,
But when I turn to you, you're always near.
I talk to you as though you lived within me,
Not changed but simply moved in from outside.
I know each day you must a little leave me,
But here, as always, you must be my guide.
You were and are and will be, just as ever,
In many minds and hearts, not only mine.

Started SS on CD 11th April 2007. 17lb weight loss in a week! 18th April 2007. 15lb Weight loss. 2 Stones 4lb lost in 2 weeks 25th April 2007. 2lb weight loss. 2nd May 2007. 8lb Weight loss. 3 stones lost in 4 weeks 9th May 2007. 2.5 lb weight loss 16th May 2007. 4.5lb weight loss 3.5 stones lost in 6 weeks 22nd May 2007. 7lb weight loss 4 stones lost in 7 weeks 30th May 2007. 6lbs lost 6th June 2007. 7lbs lost 12th June 2007. 2lbs lost 5 stones lost in 10 weeks 21st June 2007. 4lbs lost Marley Heaven XiXi was born on 25th January 2008, 7lb 11.5oz. Looking forward to getting back onto the CD in a few months time in readiness for my Nov 2008 holiday to Florida.
