    I just placed my order!

    I'll start in about a week! (got Mum's birthday celebration before then plus some supplies to eat up)

    I am going on Optifast - Weight Loss Program, Optifast® VLCD

    I ordered enough shakes, bars and desserts for a month. Going to the chemist to order the ketostix today as well.

    I'm shaking a bit!

    Going to really enjoy this last week of calorie counting Maybe I'll have another cream bun today

    So, I'm just SO excited about being slim in a quicker time than I originally thought. I'm so happy!! Really, this is amazing. So grateful that I took this leap!


    Thank you to all the lovely people here who have helped support me and helped me make this decision!

    Good luck good luck! Glad you found something that could work for you, keep up with the diary so we can all see what's going on <I'm a bit nosey!> Try cutting carbs before you start, if you do it gradually the first week on the VLCD should go a lot smoother!

    Oh and don't rely on the ketostix. Useful but some people say they just don't work properly, rely on your body more. My ketostix are hit-and-miss, one says I'm in ketosis the next says hmm, no you're not. But my breath and lack of hunger pangs says yes I am!

    I agree with MiniMoosh. Save your money on ketostix or whatever. Ketostix arent reliable when you are doing a vlcd, especially if you drink lots! The ketones get diluted in your urine. You can also get false positives and false negatives.

    The scales are the best way to know, even if its frustrating to have to wait a week!

    OK, so my parcel thingy of shakes and bars arrived a couple of days ago! It's all ready to go. I've been having a few treats these last few days to say goodbye to food for now. I know it might make it harder to go into ketosis but I don't care I'm REEEEAAALLLY EXCITED!!! I'm so happy about the whole damn thing! SO, Saturday (tomorrow) is my last day of 'real food'...and then SUNDAY...DUM DUM DUMMMM! I START THE DIIIEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    PS I didn't end up buying the ketostix, thanx guys you saved me $7.95

    It's day 1! Hello, it's me on day 1! And I couldn't be happier. I weighed myself this morning as I haven't really dieted the last week. I weigh 78.2 kg, which is 172.04 lbs. So, let's see how much I can lose in week 1! I have had a shake this morning (chocolate with 1 spoon of instant coffee shook up into it). Hmm, was OK. but I'm not doing this 'cause it tastes great am I? It was certainly drinkable, I'll say that. Also had two glasses of water already. Measured the glass I have and it's 300ml. The Optifast info told me I should drink at least 2L of water a day. I'm guessing 2L - 3L would be OK? So that's 7-10 glasses. I shall make sure to do that. I'm guessing nothing bad will happen whether I drink 2L or 3L...right?

    Anyway I'm here and I'm so excited. HELLO!!!

    Good luck! I can't help with the taste, never tried your VLCD but I know all the shakes on S&S are to my taste... I just drink it down, I found using less water in the shake and having a glass of water with it helps. Or using a blender with ice makes them nice and thick! Or my favourite, mixing the shake with a little water to make a mush then microwaving for 15 secs and eating with a spoon. With extra water to drink to make up for the lost!

    Drinking water is soooo important, not much in the food we are having compared to a normal diet. And more water means you don't retain it, so a better day on the scales! I aim for 4l but usually end up on 6l.... I'm careful not to go over that though, thats when there could be problems. I enjoy flavoured water- any with no citric acid or carbs and very very few cals. Or Coke Zero, I don't know if you can get that!

    Anyway, good luck for day one!!!! It's 1.10am here so I should be in bed!

    Thanks guys It's 9:00pm on day 1 and I'm really frickin' hungry. Went to a friend's house this afternoon and we did improvisational theatre all afternoon. Afterwards she got the snacks out...crispbreads, hummus, carrot and celery sticks. I was so good and didn't have any. Just kept thinking that it would set me back to square 1. So here I am, still doing well! xx

    Well done! The first week in particular can be very tough and at times you may need to grit your teeth to get through it. After that it will get a lot easier.
