Hi

Hoping I can get some help :) I'm thinking of doing the VLCD however my job includes a lot of physical activity and i'm on my feet for 8 hours a day. Will I be able to manage on just 800 calories doing this type of work?

I can't see it being a huge problem-altho the first few days as you're getting into ketosis might be a bit tough! If you struggle then maybe look at having an extra pack on the days that are particularly strenuous! If you're not sure, speak to your counsellor/gp/customer services of which ever VLCD you chose HTH

I know that with slim and save they advocate having an additional pack if you do heavy work, but personally I would see how you go. I cycle to uni three times a week (1 hour per day, 8 miles) and I have found Slim and Save fine. If you try a diet an don't then add an extra pack. Also, 4 packs, with 100g veg allowance doesn't bring me up to 700, so an extra pack would still only put me at 800.

A physical job, should help you lose faster!

It mainly depends on weather your job is aerobic or not. Assuming it's not, you should be fine. But if it's physical enough that you can tell your heart rate is elevated or you breathe heavy (both indicating it's aerobic), I would do as the others mentioned and add an extra pack. And your body will let you know -- if you feel dizzy or lightheaded, definitely add another pack.

I think one issue is that you will pee a lot - especially at first. So you will need to plan to be able to use the toilet frequently in the first weeks.

good luck
