New start with Slimming world from Page 14 !!!!!

Hi everyone,

I am Anne, age 38 and fat! LOL well very fat to be exact.... I need to lose 6 stones and like most of you here have yoyo dieted for years....
I have a wonderful hubby and 4 gorgeous kids.
I will never be this fat again (this is my new mantra)

Well where to start, A few months ago I felt so bad, I actually made enquiries about getting a gastric band fitted, I talked to a lot of people and heard a lot of negatives. (I did hear positives too - but for me the negatives outway the positive)

I then looked at Lighter Life, but the cost was a consideration and my nearest counsellor was a loooong way away....

>>>>>>>> Enter Cambridge diet, heard about it last week and I rang the CDC Sunday and picked up my 'food' yesterday.

So as from today - I am a Cambridge dieter!!!!

So ::

Day 1

Woke up very excited this morning, but also a bit nervous! I have failed every diet I have ever tried and this means so much to me!
I had to go out early as my daughter had a hospital appointment, so rushed to prepare my very first banana shake... I mixed it with room temp water, and used the electric mixer and it was sooooo lumpy..... I still drank it though thought what the heck!!!

Warmed up a butterscotch shake for lunch and it was different... tasted a bit chemically, but I'm sure I'll get used to the taste.

Have had a headache most of the day, I have drank 3 lites of water and am as we speak just indulging in a wine glass full of bubbley..... Well sparkling mineral water to be exact but it makes a change from still water.

I don't drink anything other than water anyway,,,, usually about 3 litres a day so the water won't be a problem...

Am going to try a soup for dinner tonight.... I have veg, and two spicy ones... I am spoilt for choice....

My wonderful hubby just prepared his and the childrens tea... and the aroma of spag bol and garlic bread are permeating through the house....

I'm not tempted though, so thats OK...
Just hope this headache shifts, I'm thinking it is carb withdrawal maybe as I don't usually get headaches...

Hope noone minds me writing here upto 100 times a day

I think I am going to need this to get through the next few weeks....

chat soon

Anne

Welcome Anne - and no no-one minds you writing 100 times on here!! This diary thread is for you and put in it what you need to help you succeed on your weight loss journey.

Good luck on CD - take some headache tablets if it persists and you should be fine in 2 days time. Keep coming on here - reading ad posting and it will get you through.

Thanks Beverley,

Have actually had a really good day today, a few glitches, the main being Thai chilli!!!!
I know some of you may like it, but it almost made me sick....
I momentarily panicked thinking that I wouldn't be able to stick if I couldn't stomach the food, but then I got out my smoothie maker - dusted it off then made up the strawberry shake with loads of ice....
It was sooo delicious.... that with another glass of sparkling water and I am full again....
It is wonderful looking through everyones sucesses and I can't wait to get to the goal....
I am going to make a video diary as well, then if I feel like falling off the wagon, it will be a real live way of seeing how far I have come!
Anne

Welcome Anne and best of luck with your diet journey!

Thai chilli would not be on top of my list for favourites.

I think the vegetable is lovely and mushroom is a close second.:)

A video diary is very interesting and as you say will be good to look back on.

Well done on getting through your first day.

Love Mini xxx

Day 2

Well I am pleased with myself as had no major problems yesterday (other than the soup that from now will never be mentioned in my house)
Am sitting here now with the vanilla shake, I ce cold with ice chips, whizzed up in the smoothie maker its lovely...

I am very much a savoury person though so think I will at some point have to try one of the other flavoured soups...
I will try vegsoup at tea time BUT if it is as bad as the soup with no name, then i will give in with the soup idea and just think shakes!

Thank goodness my headache has gone, all day yesterday it nagged at me,,,,
We are in the middle of moving house and so I can keep busy today, I am also in the middle of a social science certificate (part of my OU degree) so need to get cracking on my next assignment.

Can anyone answer me why my CDC told me to make sure I drink the shakes within 15 mins of malking them up?
I feel like it's a rush to the finish as when I put them through the smoothie maker and add all the ice it is a good litre to drink....

Anyway, no doubt I will be back loads today... I am excited at the prospect of losing this weight... but having dieted all my life, and after looking at all the wonderful sucess stories I am still in the mind set that I will probably be the one it doesn't work for!

Catch ya later

Anne

Well half way through day 2, I was really craving savoury food this lunch time so I had the chicken and mushroom soup... it was edible so thats OK ... if it had tasted like the unmentionable soup I think I would have cried...
Anyway I am so proud of myself and apart from the occasional momentary craving... I feel I am doing really well... Think it will be so much easier still after the first weigh in!

Well done Anne.

The reason you are meant to consume shakes/soups in 15mins is that there are water soluble vitamins in them - and you'll lose them if you leave it an longer. Also if you leave them for too long it separates out and is horrible! The other way to do it is make up half a pack at a time.

Keep going you are doing really well.

Hi Ann Good luck with your weight loss journey i am sure you will be fine. I am fairly new to CD and have quite a bit to lose so i know exactly how you feel. Just get through the first few days and then you will feel good, you wont feel hungry at all. Anyway goodluck:)

Hi Beverley, thanks for that info, I will definitely split my shakes tomorrow as today I struggled to finish it, I was on a vlcd before I started Cambridge yesterday, so I think my appetite has already shrunk right down.
Hi Ann,

Love your diary, it's really up beat and funny and I can just hear you saying it. Also good idea about the video diary - whatever keeps you on the straight and narrow is good in my eyes.

I re-started CD today, so I'll watch your progress. xxx

Thanks Lottie, Are you doing a diary? I will watch your progress too! I have a dress in my wardrobe in size 16 it is just a George dress, but I loved it when I saw it, I tried on the size 22 and cried It looked so awful, so I bought the size 16 instead! I am just going to hang it on the outside of my wardrobe and look at it before I go to bed each night! I am so determined this time!

Thanks Tooth fairy,
I have got my headache back now with a vengeance, but hopefully over the next few days ketosis will envelope me and I will be flying!

Well I jsut had my last meal of the day, made up as crisps / savoury biscuits and they were yummy...
I have done nothing but pee all day, this is quite odd for me, as although I normally drink huge amounts of fluid, it doesn't usually go through me. I was obviously retaining water. My rings are so lovely and loose it feels lovely to feel them jangling on my finger.

I also think that I can almost spy some cheeks bones today, maybe it's wishful thinking but maybe if I my face was a bit puffy too then it's a possibility.

I have decided I am not going to tell anyone about my diet, I won't be seeing my mum and sister for about 8 weeks as they live a long way away so I am hoping that they get a nice surprise when they see me... it would be nice to lose a couple of stone or more? by then....
Oooo off to the loo again....
I will probably lose weight just doign all this walking to and fro to pee!

Anne

well done anne
you are doing well
the 1st week is the hardest but you sound like you are in the right frame of mind to do this
good luck mate

Thanks Kaz...

Well I am off to bed soon.....
I am feeling OK... in fact very OK at the minute...

An quite worried that all s**t will hit the fan tomorrow all the next day and the enormity of the task ahead will hit me... who knows?

I am just so grateful that all you guys who have suceeded and all those who are struggling are all so very supportive...

Anyway... off to bed! Who has turned the heat off!!!!!!

HI Anne,

Yes I do have a diary - but it's in the members only section, so you'll have to knock up another 16 posts in order to read it ...but I'm sure that you can soon clock that up!!! Be great to see you!!

Don't worry, you'll be amazed at how quickly you go through the sizes and before long, you will be in that dress. Glad that you've got something to visualise yourself in...it really has helped me in the past.

I'm feeling crappy today...day 2 headaches :-( Carb withdrawal, plus I think I was on the laptop too much yesterday..I will survive!!!

Good Luck with today hun xx

Day 3

Whhoooohoooooooooooo

I'm in the pink!

Tested the wee this morning and I am officially burning fat!:party0049::party0049::party0049::party0049:

Well day three! and I must admit, I feel like really cool!
My headache from yesterday has now gone apart from the occasional twang... and I feel quite contect...

Had fun this mornign with my frutis of the forest shake!
Anyone heard the story about the magic porridge pot? Porridge everywhere?

Well..

I put a ton of ice in the blender, with a small amount of water, then put the shake in, and bended it all together till it was smooth....

The result was the most delicious sorbet type thing.... HOWEVER the quantity was a bit over whelming! 35 mins later I am still trying to get through it! Imagine a huge soup bowl and now imagine this mountain of sorbet.... Next time I will make half the mix so that I get less and can have it twice.

Goes to show that you can have variety even within the limited diet!

Also I have popped on the scales this morning and they have definitely decreased.. <not the scales, the reading> Unfortunatley I weigh in the evening at my cdc so the reading here isn't totally accurate, but at least I know it's working!

Have got lots of reading to do today for my degree so better get cracking...

Well after I have read a few more posts maybe!

Good luck for today everyone!

Anne

Well the days are flying past at the moment....

Made my toffee and walnut shake into little biscuits I actually felt quite indulgent eating them as there was 10 in total....

Drinking more today to make up for the fluid I lost from the shake....

Started my video diary last night... it was funny... lots of umms and errs... hopefully It will become easier as I get more confident....

Anyway off to do some more studying!
Anne
