Hi Everyone!

I've heard so much about this website from other people, and i've had a look on here a few times before without signing up - but tonight I decided that something has to change; so I thought why not!

A little bit of background about me -
My name is Scarlett and i'm 20years old. I live in Norfolk and I'm a student.

I currently weight 20st 4lbs (284lbs/128.8kg) and i'm over 6ft tall.

Although I am quite severely overweight - I wouldn't class myself as a non-active person. I have a job, and go to college two full days a week and I'm always out and about walking and what not.
This changed about 3 weeks ago, I've had a bad back for just over 3 months now - and it finally got to the point 3 weeks ago where I couldn't work anymore or go to college. It seems that I have a collapsing/corroding disc in my spine and it's really bloody painful! But I won't be able to get any treatment until I have an x-ray and an mri scan to see what the problem is for definite :(

I have barely even left the house in the past 3 weeks and I just spend my time lying down at home (pretty much the only position i'm comfortable in at the moment!!) watching t.v and playing on the computer. Oh, and also eating constantly!

I really want to be able to do some exercise, I love the way I feel after doing a really hard work out - or just being knackered after a hard day at work knowing that i've burnt off some calories! So i'm emotionally eating because I can't exercise which is a pretty absurd concept really :(!

I've been sitting here this evening watching amazingly inspirational videos on youtube about people that have lost nearly half of their bodyweight and it really made me want to start taking control of my eating!

Even if I can't do any exercise - if I start eating really well and stop shoveling unnecessary calories in my mouth all day due to boredom; then i've gotta lose at least a little bit of weight! Enough for the scales to notice i'm sure!

I know deep down that if I lose weight then my back problem would be more manageable - and i'm angry with myself for letting my weight get this out of control. But enough dwelling on the past! It's time to move forward!

Any support would be SO appreciated! And massive good luck and support to all of you out there who are in the same position as me!

Hi Scarlett

I read your post on Rod the Bass's thread and then read this post. Well done on joining here and making a start. Please follow my links below - I only joined this site a couple of weeks ago but I've been doing Slimming World since October and have lost 3 stone and got to target. I've also been going to a ladies only gym (Gymophobics) and started running (much to my shock!) by following podcasts for Couch to 5K which I found on the NHS website - they are brilliant and I highly recommend them. I always thought I knew how to eat healthily but Slimming World was a revelation and it has changed my life. Weekly support from local people is fantastic and I am still as motivated today as I was when I joined.

I've just been out on a mini pub crawl with my husband and had loads of comments about my weight lost - believe me, nothing tastes as good as slim feels!! I will be here to support you and will offer Rod the Bass's tough love if that is what you think you need. Well done on making a start and I hope this is the start of a journey that will change your life in amazing ways.

Thankyou so much! I've tried Slimming World in the past, as well as the Couch to 5k app when I ran the race for life last year. I'm really not sure what diet/eating plan I'm going to go with at the moment, but my best friend has been doing Slimming World for a couple of months and has lost just over stone and she looks and feels amazing! So I might go with that because then I can have someone to help me out with recipes and inspiration and what not :) I just can't wait to start losing some weight and getting on the right track!

Keep up the amazing work - you've done amazingly well :D

Hi everyone!

So today I went over to see my friend who already does Slimming World (and is doing amazingly well!) We cooked Slimming World chicken lasagne for lunch and then decided to go for a swim! I thought that this would be the easiest exercise as it wouldn't put too much strain on my back. It was amazing! My back didn't hurt at all whilst I was in the water swimming around, but it was rather painful afterwards. I'm sure that doing some exercise is eventually going to help strengthen my core muscles and in turn help to support my back so it's all good!
We then went back to hers and had grilled chicken kebabs for dinner with salad and then Slimming World apricot brownies for dessert with a little scoop of low fat ice-cream (they were delicious!)

I snacked on a whole packet of sugar snap peas, a small punnet of cherries (only 69p in Aldi at the moment!) and 5 peaches... (again only 69p at Aldi) It's all free stuff though so I can eat as much of it as I like!

I'm really pleased with myself for making it through the first day! And i'm feeling super positive about tomorrow and the future! My friend helped me out by lending me some of her old copies of the Slimming World magazine so I'm going to have search through them and find some inspiration!

Good luck to everyone else out there!
Scarlett xx

Reading that reminded me that I have very ripe peaches in the fruit bowl that need eating up. I'm enjoying one now :) I have recently started having a fruit/veg box delivered weekly to my house by the local farm shop. Now I have a constant supply of good free food that must be eaten before the next delivery, and no need to think about or do the shopping!!

That sounds like a really good idea! I think our milkman also delivers seasonal fruit and veg boxes so I might just look into that! Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a great fathers day!

I think i've done pretty well on my second day! I had more fruit for breakfast - and then again for lunch as I got up pretty late, and was going to my dads for dinner.
I had vegetarian lasagna for dinner, with roast chicken (a bit of a strange combination - but delicious!) The veggie lasagna was fulllllllllll of carrot, courgette, celery, spinach and cherry tomatoes and was absolutely delicious! It did have some soy milk and a little bit of cheese in it, and I had a mini muller corner for dessert (which I was taught how to eat correctly by my beautiful 4 year old brother!) But I can safely say that all of the dairy can be included as my healthy extra and well within 10 syns.

So I'm very pleased with myself!
How is everyone else doing today?

I'm having a good week . . . I've dropped 2lb below my target so got to put some weight back on before tomorrow! I've been doing SW for over 8 months so my food and routine are completely ingrained and it's weird to eat more. I've had a few meals out and a few extra drinks which should help. I started running again yesterday after a six week break due to a broken hand, so it will be weird to see what happens tomorrow night at WI. I'm looking forward to returning to full fitness and finding out what I can and can't eat and get away with!

Well done again on your great start . . . I shall look forward to your next installment :)

Well done for getting to goal Sally! I can't imagine how amazing it must have felt - but I'll know when I reach mine though! I can imagine it must be strange to have to put weight on before you go to weigh in instead of being careful!

And Thankyou for your inspiration and support!

So this is the end of day 3 for me! And it's been another good day :) the only bad-ish thing is that I drank some oj, completely forgetting that it's not free on slimming world. But I realised before I had too much thankfully!

I've eaten my own weight in fruit again today... Which can't be a bad thing! And I'm excited about what the scales are going to say next week! I hope everyone else is having a great day!

I just had to come on here and write about my small victory! A friend text me earlier, asking if I wanted to go to KFC (normally I'd jump at the chance to eat some!) So I went, and just had a diet coke :D I didn't eat one single morsel! And I even managed to sit with my friend while he ate his meal... It may not seem like much but I'm really proud of myself as it would have been easy for me to just scoff a meal down and then feel terrible about it afterwards!

So Scarlett - 1 Eating badly - 0! Woooo!

Congratulations! Don't ever forget how good that felt :) Make these good habits regular habits . . .

It felt amazing! When we left kfc we went into the supermarket and I bought some healthy ingredients for my dinner and I felt - and still feel really positive about it! :)
