My Weight Loss Diary! - 110lbs

Hi guys, my name's Connor and I've recently decided to get my life back on track and lose this ridiculous amount of weight that I have piled on! I was taking a browse on the internet (as you do) and came across this amazing site. Seeing some of the success stories and the positivity on the forums has made me throw my caution to the wind and start my very own e-diary! I am hoping to shift 110lbs by New Years and I am very determined, I know I'll need all the help I can get and would really appreciate some love from the wonderful users on here :P

Thanks Rev :-) Was actually taking a look at your diary as we are rather similar in starting weight and age so that has really been useful to me. My story is essentially one of just pure self idulgence with a sense of not caring for the world to be quite honest, but now as I'm turning 21 I would really like to kick this weight off, not only for my own self confidence but for my health. Reverse my reckless teen years! Haha

    Day One :-
Today went well, already starting to feel more energetic as the day progressed. Started with breakfast, blueberry and apple porridge, made with a dash of skim milk and a banana (~300 cals). After breakfast had Uni so quick jog to campus, after classes lunch. Ww bagel with a light spreading of light cream cheese topped with tomatoes, a slice of ham accompanied by an apple. (~400 cal). Waited an hour after lunch to get to the gym, 20 min run on treadmil followed by a slightly more light jog for 15. Cross trainer for half hour, bikes for 40 minutes. A nice slow paced workout for the first day, best easing into it! Dinner: WW Tagliatelle bolognaise (Which is absolutely amazing!!) with a slice of wholewheat bread. (~500 cal) Total consumption at around 1200 cal for the day, around where I wanted it to be. So that's it! Overall not a terrible start to the loss :-)

lol that's me in a nutshell man. Pure naivety was the reason I gained so much weight. I didn't care about my health, all I cared about was how good the latest pizza hut topping was haha

Of course it's also about gaining some confidence and self-respect. Good luck with the first week!

Haha, pizza is my all time favourite food! Here's hoping the low fat equivalent is nice eh! Thanks Rev I hope I can do as well as you have!

Thank you Laura! Although with me I have in the past been used to a good workout - Shame the lifestyle outside of the gym has never really matched my routine within it!

    Day Two:-

Today I was a tad less enthusiastic however I pinned that down to quitting smoking. Stuck to the diet regardless. Breakfast: One slice of wholewheat toast topped with banana and a tiny serving of honey, with a low fat yogurt on the side (~350 cal), once again had Uni up until 1, had lunch at 1, small jacket potato topped with tuna salad (350 cal). After lunch popped to the gym, same routine as yesterday with a few extra minutes added on at each stage, was good, managed to get through it with no problems! I did let myself down majorly though, I did have a ciggy after the gym Although, I've gone from 15 a day to 5 today so I'll call that progress and try to keep it up :P - Dinner, couldn't really be bothered making anything too amazing, grilled some quorn pieces and heated up some WW Pasta sauce and a few veg. (~400 cal) Total calories today: Approx 1,100 (a little less than my daily target of 1,200 but in all honesty, 100 calories isn't a massive difference) So yeah, had a decent enough day. Managed to stick to it, keep motivated and cut down my smoking

Hey, I know how hard quitting is. I quit last year around June (same time as my second year uni exams and my driving test!). Have you tried electronic ciggies? I know some people hate them, but I found the habbit was more the issue than anything else. Doesn't taste the same, but it's the same action and you do exhale 'smoke'. I found them really useful, couldn't have quit without them (still use them sometimes now though - if I'm out with friends drinking ect who smoke because I know my will power is rubbish and I'll just end up starting again). Oh, and cherry flavour nicotine lozenges. They were great, and I found the ones with the lesser amount of nicotene were still really strong. (I liked them when getting off a bus, going in car ect. As that was when I'd light up). Good luck on quitting, you can do it! I went from smoking between 15/25 a day to nothing. You will notice it when you stop too, my friend couldn't figure out what had changed (about a month in) until I said so and then she was like, 'Yeah, I thought your skin looked much brighter and clearer'.

You know, with your exercise you can eat more than 1,200. I am for around 1,500.

Haha yeah, I've quit before, made it 3 months completely cold turkey but the older you get the harder it becomes! I have a few of those electronic cigs left over from last year I think so I'll definitely look out for them! I've heard great things about the quit mist so I'm considering going to get that, quite a few people have told me they'd quit that way. As for the calories, initially I'm going for quite a large calorie deficit whilst not starving myself, 1,200 cals or thereabouts fills me for the day and isn't too bad on that scale so I'm going to stick to that for the time being, if the weight loss slows I'll consider upping it alongside the exercise!

    Day Three:-
Today was really refreshing, it being the first day of reading week and a Saturday decided to have a brisk 5 mile jog, up to, around and back from the local park before breakfast, felt amazing! Breakfast: bowl of cinammon porridge with a banana (~300 cal). After breakfast had a few things to sort out at the bank, walked it instead of the usual bus. Lunch: Quorn "chicken" pieces in a green salad in pita with a touch of homous (400 cal), an hour later to the gym - half hour run, 20 minute jog, 45 minute on bikes and a good 35 on the crosstrainer followed by a brief go at Zumba (absolutely hilarious)! Dinner: Mixed veg, baby new potatoes and grilled salmon (beginning to like fish!) (500 cal). Managed to stick to my 1200 calories and get a decent enough workout, here's hoping I drop a tonne this week!
