FatGirlSlim's diary. Three stone to shift to change my life

So I thought I would keep a diary on here mainly for myself so I can keep track of how I'm doing and what I'm eating. I would also like to encourage everyone reading it to join in and point out where I might be going wrong or what im doing right and also ask me if you need my support with anything. This forum is great, it's like a little family. So I invite you to join me on my journey and share my ups and downs as I begin my quest to ditch three stone :D

A little bit of background information of where it all started. When I was in school and all the way up until I was 19 I was always around 9 stone and a size 10. Then along came the car and office job! No more walking everywhere once I passed my test, and of course sat on my bum all day meant the weight crept on. It happened very slowly over the course of 10 years, so I hardly really noticed until I hit 12 stone. I went up to 10 stone until I was about 24, then met a guy and got comfortable and put on another stone over a year and by the time we split up two years later I was 11.6 stone. I then got with my current boyfriend and shot up to 13.8 stone through our love of eating out and takeaways! So it was at this weight I really panicked. Being 5ft3 and hitting 13.8 I felt disgusting. I stopped going out clubbing as I couldn't face going clothes shopping for something to wear, I live in dresses and skirts as I feel far too fat in jeans and trousers, I avoid cameras like the plague unless I'm holding it myself at a certain angle to make my face look thin! And the list goes on.

i decided to take up the Atkins diet in March this year as my friend had lost three stone on it in just 4 months. I lost a stone pretty quickly and went down to 12.8. I got stuck at this weight for months due to going on holiday and just generally being complacent. I then started feeling depressed again, me and my newly slim friend who is now a size 10 are going to Butlins this November, and I simply couldn't bare the thought of being the fat mate and feeling uncomfortable in my skin. So just over a week ago I did the Lipotrim plan as another mate had lost 22lbs in 23 days! I lost 6lbs on this and only didn't continue due to the cost (£36 a week).

So that's left me at 12.2 stone now. I'm back on the Atkins until I can afford to start Lipotrim again. There is a small issue of my holiday to Tenerife next week, where I'm weighing up whether I should be good and maintain my current weight or whether I should just enjoy myself and just accept ill probably gain the 6lbs I lost recently. I don't really fancy the latter, I know it will just depress me knowing that a whole week of not eating a morsel of food was for nothing!

So there we have it, my story laid bare. I really want to turn my life around and get down to 10.6 for Butlins and then eventually 9 stone. I will write as often as I can with my food diary and weight loss/ gains :)

Here we go....!

Steph xx

Hi FGS,

I can't offer much support on Atkins as such (because I don't know much about it and I also have my own thoughts on it's safety) but I also have an upcoming holiday and the same dilemma as you! I am trying to go down the middle road I think, a little bit of what I fancy but keeping in mind my overall goal. I might have to make use of the running track - eek!

Hi Jody, yeah that's exactly what ill do, enjoy myself but im not going to go overboard (no pun intended!) and stuff my face! lots of fresh chicken and salads im thinking as opposed to greasy chips and chocolate cake like i had the last time i went abroad!

Good Luck Steph, sounds like your determined! I'm on Cambridge but also aiming toward a Holiday in December. I think it can be great motivation because there's an end in sight where you can have a break!

Thanks Molly, yeah it deffo helps having something to aim towards. The reason I haven't lost weight before was because I kept telling myself 'ill start next week/month, there's no rush'. Well now I've got a goal, it's prompted me to up my game because if I don't reach it this time, I fear I'll never get there.

food diary for Thursday:

Atkins bar-3.1g (last one ill have after reading on here how they stall weight loss!)
dairylea cheese triangle x2-2g
Pork scratchings- 0.4g
two portions of haddock fillets- 4.8g

total carb intake- 10.3g

I'm the same, for a couple of years I've said for Christmas, for the summer, for Christmas ...... But the time has come for me to whip into shape!
Are you still on plan? Notice it's a few days since you posted! Hope so, remember it will be worth it in the end xxx

Hi Molly, ive been in Tenerife! Well, i got down to 12 stone exactly before i left. Came back on the weekend and went to the pharmacy yesterday to re-start Lipotrim. Im back up to 12.7. But started again with my shakes today so going to battle through and hope most of it comes off by next Wednesday :) will keep you posted.

Oh dear, cant seem to get back on the wagon. Tried starting Lipotrim again last Thursday and by the end of the first day i was so starving i went and got a McDonalds! I then continued with the face stuffing and went on to have a Subway on Saturday and Dominoes pizza last night. Needless to say i am too scared to weigh myself to see the damage! I am back on Lipotrim AGAIN today, so far so good, but it IS only 2.30pm! I find i get starving around 5pm and as i dont get home from work until 6pm, i cant have my soup any earlier. So by the time ive had my soup, im so hungry it doesn't even touch the sides and then all i want to do is eat a takeaway! I have had a stern word with myself though not to cave, its only day one and i know once you're past the first day it gets easier.

So yesterday was all going well until i got home. I had my two shakes in work and was determined to just have my soup when i got home. I was so hungry however and the fridge and cupboards were full of yummy food. So i ended up consuming a whole family size bag of kettle chip crisps, a crunchie, a twix and a toasted tea cake!! i officially have zero willpower. I did pluck up the courage to weigh this morning though and im still 12.7 stone, so not as bad as i first thought after my massive weekend binge! Back on once again today! had my first shake at 1pm and will have my next one about 4 then soup about 7. Hoping having the shakes later will help with the terrible hunger that kicks in at tea time.

So got weighed this morning and was very pleased to find i am now 12.1 stone- so 6lbs off! i couldn't quite believe it as i haven't been totally strict on Lipotrim and have had nights where i had some chicken and a little bit of curry. I had some chilli con carne last night but was then sick straight after as i found a hair in it and i cannot be dealing with hairs in my food!!! so im ashamed to say this probably helped with the weight loss slightly. Intending to be stricter on myself this week and try and stick to having the soup for tea as much as i can as i know i wont always get away with it so easily! The family are having a chinese tonight so my willpower is going to be tested!

Feeling down today, still the same weight as Monday morning. I did succumb to some Chinese though- three chicken balls and some rice on Monday night so maybe im being abit harsh on myself!

Hi Steph, sorry only noticed you were back posting!
Its hard to stop the binge when you get on a roll like that and easy to say well I've broken it now might as well keep going!
Glad you're pretty much back on track now doll! It's so so so super hard to resist at family meals when it seems so unfair that everyone else is able to have it. My mum and sister that I live with are both over weight and even though I know I never want to get that big I still feel jealous of them munching everything tasty!

good luck xxxxxxxx

Hi Molly thanks for your post. Well i got back on track on Monday, its now Wednesday and im still going strong...and trust me that's good for me haha. My friend has just got to her 3 stone mark on Lipotrim within two months, so i need to pull my socks up and just stick with it. Im going to avoid the scales until Saturday morning and by then i hope to see im in the 11's, even if its 11.13! Will report back then :) xx

Hi Fatgirlslim

just popping in to wish you luck on your journey. I did slim and save which is similar to lipotrim, and lost 2 stone, but gained a stone back and struggled to restart. So this time I'm trying something new. I'm doing slim and save 3 days a week (mon, wed and sat), and eating between 1800-2000 cals on the other days. It's sort of like juddd or the 5:2 diet, but because I'm having packs I don't have to think about food on my starving days! This, at the moment is really working for me because I can survive one day on 500 cals knowing I can eat the next day. Since this is my first week, I can't recommend it, but I reckon if you're struggling you could combine lipotrim with Atkins on alternate days and stay in ketosis.

Anyway, whatever you do, good luck!

Hi Phoenyx

Thanks Hun- good luck with yours too. Yeah I agree that it's easier to combine with the Atkins, I'm eating out on Saturday so plan to have a chicken or fish dish. I know the whole point in these shake diets are that it's total food replacement, but if you don't go overboard with the carbs and calories, I can't see the harm! I'll see how much weight I've lost come my weigh in on Monday and if it's not over 2lbs then I will have to think about just staying on the shakes. Xxx

Urgh, cant believe i only lost 1lb on a week of nothing but shakes. Im giving up Lipotrim, it just isnt for me. Spent the week starving and missing out on yummy foods for nothing. Back on Atkins today. I find it easier to do a diet where you can actually still eat. Will report back next Monday with weigh in results.

Hey I am on Cambridge diet but starting it on step 3. This means I have a shake/soup/porridge in the morning and one at lunch. Dinner is a healthy meal (decent size). I am only on day 9 but feel really good, lots of energy and I have lost about 8lbs.

I always know that I have a good dinner coming in the evening which makes the daytime easier.

This might be easier than Atkins/ Lipotrim?

Yeah Phoenyx, i just find that when im disheartened with the results i have a big binge and undo all my hard work then im back to square one!

Menniss- on the atkins i have an atkins shake for breakfast then low/zero carb lunches and dinners so i dont feel so restricted. On lipotrim its purely shakes and even if you eat abit of chicken, it throws you off completely! So i think i can do the Atkins and ill see how i get on. Thanks for your advice :)

xx
