Hey RawrGirl a lot of us go through the same sort of thing on here, we are all here to support you though, chin up! :)

Don't get mad get motivated:cool:

Thanks, Blue Cow. Am trying, but it is hard.

RawrGirl has a wardrobe full of clothes that no longer fit, but instead of that inspiring her it just makes her more discouraged...because all those clothes fit her only months ago. After 22 years of trying to lose about 20-30 pounds and only ever losing and gaining the same 10 over and over and then finally hitting goal and even mostly maintaining it for over a year, RawrGirl gained 20 of it back over this past summer. She is very discouraged, disgusted with herself, and frustrated. She wants the weight back off right now. She doesn't feel like going on another diet for months and months and last time it took 4 months to lose it (just in time for Christmas) but now, there is only about 2 months till Christmas, so now matter what she does she most likely will not get back into those clothes by then...and then all family will know after 22 years of trying and finally making it, she failed to keep it off.
:(

So RawrGirl bit the bullet and got on the scale. 151.4.:cry::mad::cry:

She is hoping beyond hope that Friday morning (measurement day) she will be at least 149, since today she jumped on in the afternoon, and Friday she will get on in the morning.

RawrGirl's average weight for 22 years was 150-160. Everynow and then she would get down to 143, but mostly only around 147, before gaining it all back. 17 years ago, she made it to 138 and probably regained. And 2 years ago, after finding minimins, she got down to 129, her thinnest ever. And she loved it. And she bought all new clothes. And she kept it off for about a year. Up to last Valentines Day, actually. And then it went all down hill from there....gain, gain, GAIN, all summer long and am once again back to over 150.

If, somehow, the scale can actually say 149 something on Friday, that will be encouraging, because at least anything in the 140's is a "okay, I'm getting there" weight, unlike everthing in the 150's or 160's is an ACKKK  MUST LOSE WEIGHT NOW, FEEL SO FAT weight.

Aw RawrGirl dont get yourself down or worry about what your family might think - at the end of the day you are losing the weight for YOU so who cares what anyone else thinks! What diet are you following? I am usually a couple of pounds heavier in the evening than in the morning so I reckon 149 is definitely doable by Friday :) xx

Basically the same thing as last time, except not extremely low carbs. So same amount of calories, but this time allowing whole grain breads and pastas. Oh, guess the calories are abit more, because not obsessing over the calories in veggies. Before, since RawrGirl was counting carbs, she had to measure/weigh veggies so unless it's a starchy veggie, she just tosses it in with the meal.

RawrGirl does not really care for cardio, though on weekends she does jumping jacks periodically since she drinks (trying to make up for the calories, lol). And she lifts weights or some form of strength training 6 days a week. But not a one session workout like last time. This time quads and back in the morning, biceps, shoulders, and bum in the evening, etc. She's suppossed to do triceps and chest in the afternoon, but forgot so far this week.

So what plan are you following? Do you have a diary?

God look at us two up in the middle of the night lol I did low carb one and literally cut out all starchy carbs - I lost a lot of weight but just could not keep it going! I think it's a good idea to keep some in your diet, I couldn't live without them nowadays. :D

Sounds like you are very good with your exercise, I feel a bit exhausted just reading all your strength training! I have a gym membership but I ummm haven't been for a while whooops!

I am not really following a diet at the moment - I am trying to just be a bit more conscious of what I put in my mouth and move around a bit more. It is going okay (slow but still going down) at the moment, but when I'm a bit lighter I am going to have to get a bit stricter, not sure what I will do then yet. I do have a diary in the members only section but I don't pay it much attention most of the time! Am trying to get better at writing down what I eat etc but I just know if I eat junk I'll get all embarrassed and just wont write it down.

Lol, RawrGirl's strength training is not long -- 2 sets of 8-12 reps each. It takes about 2-3 minutes each time. Rather pathetic, and if she doesn't hit 149 by Friday she will have to bump it up quite a few notches.

By the way, RawrGirl is very grateful that you're still up and commenting on her diary. She didn't want to come back to minimins and admit she failed/gained it all back, so she had joined another site. No one really spoke to her, not even in the introductions. And the thread with the diet she was doing (Sonoma) was dead...only about 3 other people were ever on it, and no one responded to anything RawrGirl wrote there. So after several weeks...she came back here -- just today -- and is glad she did...because she already met a new friend -- you. :D

Still sounds impressive to me ;)

Haha bless you :) everyone on mini's is really friendly in my experience and it is definitely a busy forum. When I first joined this site I'm pretty sure I weighed about 12 stone!! SHAMEFUL! I love chatting on here - if you chat to people it is harder to go 'waaaa I failed I'm never going on minis again I give up!!', I am a bit of a night owl too so it's nice to have someone to talk to :)

Sorry, I didn't log in till now (am headed for bed), but it was a rather busy day. RawrGirl works, homeschools, is learning Koinine Greek, and is in the middle of fall cleaning, and reading a diet book and workbook, lol (the Beck Diet Solution, which is about maintaining weight loss by changing your thoughts and attitudes about food). She only did one exercise session today. Guess that's better than nothing.

But -- happy news -- got on the scales this morning in the nude and and it said 148.4. RawrGirl is very pleased to not be in the 150's. EVERY other time she went on a diet she was somewhere around 153-162 (usually 158) and it's always a real struggle to get under 150, so hard in fact that except for 3 times that she can remember, she only got under 147 3x in 17 years of dieting as an adult. In 1978 (138lb), in 2010 or 2011 (143lb), and in 2012 (129 lb). Usually when she hits 147, she is out of steam and sick of deprivation and ended up treating herself for all her hard work and that was the end of further weight loss. Months would go by, and she'd regain, start again, etc.

But this time, RawrGirl is starting where her steam is usually gone. This has completely revamped her motivation. In fact, she has adjusted her initial goal (Christmas) to 134 (the weight she maintains when not in Ketosis (super low carb), which will put her back into all her new clothes (excpet one pair of skinny black jeans which were snug at 129, lol). So this way when she sees family over Christmas she will look the same. Such a relief! It really should be doable as it's about 1.5 lbs a week. :D

RawrGirl can do this! She knows she can!

Hope your day went well. Promise to be on more tomorrow! xx

No probs RawrGirl, Koinine Greek sounds very interesting! How come you're learning that?

That is really great news! You are tackling the problem before it gets out of hand. :) That Christmas goal sounds really reachable and then you will be at your end goal in no time!

RawrGirl is in the middle of writing a 7-book Christian supernatural series of history....basically all of world history from the viewpoint of angels and demons. Anyway, in researching for this, she has realized that many Christian doctrines are based on faulty interpreations of the Bible due to translations (Latin, English, etc.) and so she wants to learn Greek so she is more adept at understanding the intent of the original writers.

So RawrGirl's measurments are the same as last week, and the week before, and the week before. Her first reaction was "this bloody died doesn't work, I knew I couldn't eat Sonoma (carbs), Grrr, must go back into Ketosis, so unfait, other people can lose and eat good-for-you carbs,, blah, blah, blah." BUT then she remembered she treated herself last weekend to what she would refer to as a maintenance weekend (wine, whole wheat pasta, low-carb chocolate cake). So....realistically, she can't have expected to drop 1/2 an inch in her waist after only 3 genuine diet days (Mon-Wed), when last time she dropped 1/2 an inch after 7 diet days.

So...she is going to stick to plan this weekend, and all next week, and if she still doesn't drop 1/2 an inch, then maybe she will need to cut carbs. But she has to give Sonoma and genuine chance before she discards it. A little frusterating as she let last weekend determine this week's weigh-in, but, she just needs to deal with it, and remember she can have a maintenance weekend when she is manintaining, or once a month, if she needs it not to binge on all her fav foods.

Off to shops to buy groceries for the week.

Ohhh that sounds interesting!!

I think you are definitely right to give it another week with the measurements, I'm sure you'll start to see a difference soon though! I have never taken my measurements but maybe I should start, probably good to track these things. Just had a look at the sonoma diet and it looks quite interesting, like that you can eat quite a few foods even at the beginning.

Last time around (when RawrGirl lost weight and reached goal here at Minimins), she had Prince Charming hide the scale because she got on it every day, even though she only counted Friday morning's weight. And with all past dieting attempts, if she saw a gain or a STS, she ate pizza and chocolate over the weekend. Naturally, she rarely lost most weight. So, like she said, she had him hide the scale, and she only got on it once a month. November's weight was 138, and December's 129. But she took her measurements each week, and generally lost 1/4 inch in waist each week. So...if the scale poses a problem again, she will again take out the battery and put it away save for once a month.

All that being said...RawrGirl definately suggests taking measurements weekly. It's very encouraging, because after all, it doesn't matter what one's weight is. RawrGirl wouldn't care if the scale said 140 if she had her 27.5 inch waist back, lol. She takes her waist, hip, unreliable navel area, right upper thigh, and right upper arm each week. Naturally she stayed the same this week, but usually she lost 1/4 inch in waist and hips each week. (Oh, just fwi,hip is widest part of butt not at the hip bones -- RawrGirl found that out half way through weight loss last time, lol).

I am a serial weigher it is such a bad habit!! You have such self control NO WAY could I manage once a month!

Measuring definitely sounds like a useful way to track your progress, think I might give it a go when I next weigh in (Wednesday).

Hope you have a nice day RawrGirl, sorry I wasn't around last night!

Okay...because RawrGirl was not weighing, she has no real understanding of how much she lost this week. But...her measurements did go down FINALLY! Despite last weekend of eathing half a medium supreme pizza (Fri Night), 1.5 servings of 100% Whole Wheat Ziti made with Skim Ricotta and a bottle of wine (Sat), and eating an 8x8 chocolate cake (1/2 Fri and 1/2 Sat), and drinking her Hazelnut Cream coffee all weekend (w/o biscuits). The fact that that is her IDEAL weekend foods for maintenance and she actually lost makes RawrGirl EXTREMELY happy and confident that she can maintain her weight when she gets to goal.

The difference with that weekend, and the weekend over the summers where she gained weight was that it was a large pizza, 2 bottles of wine, and store bought chocolate cake, biscuits with coffee, etc. Basically, came down to portion control.

Anyway...RawrGirl measurements:

Waist: lost 1/4 inch
Hip: STS
Navel: lost 1/4 inch (though completely unreliable measurment as never know exactly where measured last, and this area fluctuiates on RawrGirl ridiculously)
Thigh: STS
Arm: STS

RawrGirl's waist is FINALLY under 31. YAY!

And the scales: 147.

RawrGirl would be happier about 147 if she knew what she weighed last Friday. Tues was 151.4 (afternoon w/ clothes). Wed was 148.4 (nude in morning). Thurs was 148 (nude in morning). And then today. So while it looks like RawrGirl lost 4.4 pounds (RawrGirl NEVER loses more than 2 pounds) she has no idea how much of that was simply water weight due to the previous weekend. But...as long as the demon scales continue to behave angelically, RawrGirl will get on once a week as well as take measurements so she can actually see how the two correspond.

Why are you talking in the third person
