Lisa-Jade's Diary

Hi I'm Lisa-Jade! I am 32 years old and happily married for 2 years. I have been overweight for most of my life, and I am determined to do something about it. I refuse to give up on myself. I thought registering and posting on minimins would help me to focus, and chat to other people struggling with their weight. All my friends and family are slim (lucky sods!).

I repeat the cycle of losing weight then regaining it all plus a few extra stone. I am currently morbidly obese. I haven't weighed in weeks, but I'm sure I'm in the high 19 stone bracket. I have piled on the weight faster than usual following a bereavement, but I feel ready to start taking control again and start shedding some weight.

I have tried most types of weightloss, including unsuccessful weight loss surgery many years ago. I have done slimming world, weight watchers, calorie counting, Atkins... Most recently I've been dabbling in VLCDs but these seem to make me binge and I'm not sure it's for me in the long term.

I am going back to basic calorie counting with my fitness pal, just aiming for a pound a week initially to ease myself in. I started today, though I didn't weigh myself as i had already had breakfast before deciding to start! I had 1500kcals today which is less than MFP suggests, but it felt right for me, plus I guessed my weight, so it probably isn't accurate anyway! I will brave the scales in the morning.

As for exercise... Well, I am notoriously lazy so this is always a sore point. But at times I have had very successful periods of going to the gym religiously, but at my current weight and headspace I think that's a bit unrealistic right now. So I am thinking of designing myself a little home workout routine to do maybe 3 times a week, with a view to getting back to the gym in the spring.

In terms of goals... Well of course I would love to be a normal weight. But to start with, I would like to lose weight so my wedding ring isn't so tight. I was 15st10lbs when I got married, so that is my initial goal I think. So around 4 stone...

... though another 4 after that would be great :)

Hi LJ welcome welcome !! I love mini mins - really helped me and I've made some great on line buddies in here. Moo (Destamia) and waffle are on the curvier side so prob understand a bit better the challenges when you're a bit bigger but weightloss is hard for everyone. We all want to eat chips and biscuits really ;-) There's a section on here in the slimming clubs bit called WEMITTs which is for the folks with a bit more to lose than say a fw stone. They seem super supportive and there's a couple of ladies who have lost loads and kept it off (Tracy) !

I do calorie counting and MFP - so does waffle - I really like it. As you live a normal life and if you have a big night out then you cut back the next day. You don't become a social pariah! Also good on you for doing this mid November - it would be so easy to binge over Christmas period and have to start 2 stone heavier.

Be brave with the scales today I reckon, as in your first day you can drop quite a bit of water weigh and prob some real weight which you won't see now if you weigh in tomorrow. Means you'll maximise that big first week loss which is soo motivating xx

Hi Lisa,

I weighed in at 20st 10lbs last year (and I'm only short) and lost 4 stone in the run up to my wedding in September. Had a fantastic honeymoon and put some back on but started slimming world a couple weeks ago so I didn't use the excuse of December/Christmas to have a big binge. I understand where you're coming from completely and remember how daunting it was before I stood on the scales at my heaviest.

I'm very lazy too and go through periods of doing the 30 day shred everyday and an hour of walking or not doing anything except taking the dog on 2 quick strolls a day.

Looking forward to reading your diary, I wish you the best of luck!

well done on your loss so far daisy :)
